Reach v 5 Armor comparison... This is so sad.

Extreme emotions in 3.2.1…
I came by this on reddit and I was literally shocked when i noticed it.
This is so sad dude I can’t even find the right words to describe it, halo reach armor feels like made out of metal and spartans feel like they’re close to earth while halo 5s spartans are pure PLASTIC.

The problem is 343I decided to make the game 1080p and 60fps on a console that is barely running 1080p by itself! By that it has a major affect on lighting and details in general. Basically anything that is 10 feets away from you is running in 10 fps and the background is pixelated so bad that your eyes gonna jump out! The only good thing about halo 5 spartans is that they’re tall and you can see them clear as day while in halo reach everyone is like 2 foot tall…
Edit- also whatever you gonna wear in halo 5 still gonna look ugly anyways because of the colored undersuit unless you have your primary to black. #blackudersuitsmatter

Here you go.

And in case that was a little too high brow for you: here you go again.

Older Halo armor has better visual details than Halo 5’s IMO.

For some reason, the more I look at Mark V Alpha, it gets less and less stupid looking.

Well, hold on: design wise, sure they’re lacking. But detail? No. Halo 5 armors have plenty of detail. I was taking screenshots and found they put fingerprints on the visor of the Nightfall helmet … that’s an awesome detail. But some sets seem to have gotten more attention than others.

NOOOO!!!

:^)

Halo Reach had the best looking armor of all the games in my opinion. They just didn’t make spartans look like aliens ;/

This thread made me cry… A lot… :frowning:

I miss Bungie and their amazing armour designs. Hell, I’d even say that the Titan armour in Destiny looks more like Halo armour than what we have in Halo 4-5.

I feel that the Reach armor is more dirty and weathered cause it was armor that was used during an actual war. Where as Halo 5 armor is just being used in war games and simulated battles, i think.

Well, there’s a big difference between Spartan III’s on a suicide mission towards the end of a 30 year conflict on a doomed planet and the Spartan IV’s, apart of the post-war victorious UNSC with all new tech and armor and ships. You wouldn’t expect the victors of a war to be still wearing their beat up, mix-matched, dirty, war torn armor, would you? There’d be a massive economic boom, growth in manufacturing and industry, a new Spartan program, the Infinity, yada yada … new and clean.

But here’s my question: we know what the Spartan IV’s in Halo 4 were doing in between War Game simulations, the Requiem campaign. And the Spartans in Halo 5 look more beat up than they did in Halo 4 (go look, they do). What I want to know is, what were they up to during the events of Halo 5? Warzone? lol. Anyway, maybe by Halo 6, they’ll start looking even more beat up, if that’s what you’re into … although, there is the Infinity and they’re stationed there, and if they’re anything like the Army, they’ll make the Spartan shine their boots.

So, I guess if people want them looking beat up and dirty, they shouldn’t look for a canonical explanation, but there’s every reason in the world for them to keep their armor in top notch shape.

There’s a lot of whacky helmets and armour sets in the game, but the classic ones I like are still in there. Just have to unlock them.

Currently using Wrath armour with MKV damaged helmet. Looks awesome.

I’m so disappointed at the Mark V alpha and decimator. I don’t even understand why they did that. Its like they just disgraced the classic by making it look so ugly. Even Halo 4 got it right, probably not near exact, but better than what we got with the Mark V alpha. And the decimator helmet, my god. The body looks cool, but I would still switch out that torso armor. Back to the helmet of Decimator, omg. Its like they tried to add a baseball cap to it. WHY. The basic Mark V B didn’t even come with thing (I forgot what it was called) But of course it was an option to buy in Halo Reach, BUT AT LEAST IT LOOKED GOOD. And what is up with the weird bulges on the visor. Honestly fill out the top part of the helmet and it will look great. Not flatten it.
Like they did it right with carter’s armor minus his left shoulder armor.
The top part of the Decimator helmet looks like he fell on the pavement and hit its forehead and somehow the armor was repaired like that. It’s like the manufacturer were probably testing the prototype, saw that he fell, and was like, “We cannot tell anyone what happened here”
And I don’t get why people think the armor looks plastic. Halo Reach’s art style was made that way because it was during the Covenant war. It was made to look dark and war like. Halo 5 is like continuing the art style of Halo 3, where it looks fresh and new.

Not saying that H5 armor designs are bad, because even if there are a few wonky ones out there, they’re not all bad.
I will say that Reach spoiled us, a lot. We had fully customization armor, a darker campaign, outstanding multiplayer, etc. Reach took what was good about H3, and improved it (in my opinion).
We were spoiled early on with H3 and Reach, so our expectations were (and still are) incredibly high with the more recent games. Which causes everyone to be super critical on them. Before you know it, if 343i continues making Halo games, we may all be looking back and saying ‘Can we at least go back to how H5 was?!’

I’m not really into armor and armor selection, but I’ll give your thread a bump by saying I’m not into armor lol.

It all looks the same to me and I don’t identify with one armor over another. But I know it’s important to a lot of people so I hope you get what you want.

Has the Decimator armor been confirmed to be Noble 6’s armor? I thought it was just the closest thing to their armor.

Reach had the best customization and multiplayer imo.

Like halo 3 had unique armor but Reach had better looking armor + come on you can customize everything lol.

I just want my inclement weather armor effect in 5… was a pain to save up 2m credits back in reach days lmao

The Mark V helmet looks so derpy

You may want to get a new computer or hook it up to a surge protector if you’re getting literally shocked while using it :stuck_out_tongue:

… sorry, I can’t help it :frowning:

I agree. I prefer Reach’s armour to 5’s. Not just for the overall aesthetics, but for the customization as well
