So I am making a thing. It was born out of my love for the early Halo books. The books are actually what got me into the games with nylund’s the fall of reach coming out just before Halo ce. I haven’t stopped playing since. So I am making a monument to my love for the Spartan II’s story on reach. So I’m looking for input on this project and advice as I’m novice level at making and painting this stuff… So here is the start that I have made… I aquired a halo reach legendary statue. I have already removed the Spartan III’S. Before you freak out chill. I was careful removing them and have other plans for Noble team. I also have another copy of the statue in great condition (because I still have respect for Noble and for the great game Halo reach is) the one I am working on was cheap on eBay in meh condition. But I digress… So I plan to put Halo 5 era blue team in noble’s place. Now before you say it I know that is not the armor they had at the time but several copies of essentially the mc wouldn’t look interesting as a statue. If that still bothers you think of it as them coming back to visit their glassed home. I already have Kelly Linda and Fred poseable figures with the removable armor; I still need Chief. What I’m wondering is what sort of poses I should do I don’t want to just copy the spaghetti III’s poses also I need advice for painting what paint should I use. Furthermore I have the issue of the small holes left in the base by Noble team what could I fill with that would be good to paint over. Finally I’m wondering what model of Chief to use. I’m not a huge fan of the armor he has in 5 but I want them to look similar any thoughts or advice? Also any ideas what to do with each of my individual Noble team members would be cool (I was thinking of making jun and Jorge into bookends for my Halo books and games but am super open to any suggestions).
You could potentially do poses similar to what’s on the box art like this.
Gotta say though, super creative project
Best of luck with it!

Sweet thanks I really like Linda standing it’s less derivative of the original. I had her crouched like jun; but I like that better.

Yeah, I love the art for both Spartan teams. Glad it’s something you like too. Can you keep us (or at least me haha) updated with the project? I love the idea and I’d love to see how it turns out.

Yeah for sure I will see if I can post the early pictures this week after work some time (and after my kid is in bed) I can’t do links yet so you may have to copy and paste
Don’t really have any advice myself but just wanted to stop by and say this is a great idea and I’m looking forward to seeing the end result. Good luck OP.

Nice, yeah that’ll be awesome to see.

You’re going to do what I wanted to do with my custom painted Halo: Reach Figures with that Legendary Edition Stand. Well, from experience with working with paints, Model Master is a decent brand to use, much better than Testors paint. More variety of paints, not to mention model master paint has a better consistency (Meaning painting wiht multiple coats will have the same color each time). Alternatively, if you are looking for more metallic colors, you can get mineral spirits and use fingernail polish (As there are alot of metallic coats of that stuff and yes, nail polish can be used as model paint.). Just make sure you use a paintbrush that is meant for model paints and make sure to clean it in mineral spirits or Paint Thinner afterwards, otherwise, you’ll find the brushes hairs stiffened and hence unusuable.
With the paints, you can choose whether or not you want to add additional wear and tear as well as other details to the Spartan figures, such as battle scarred armor, paint scrapes (Steel Model Master Paint works well for this) and muddied/rusted bottoms (Rust Model Master Paint works well for this).
As for that hole, JB Weld Quik Weld should do the trick as it will set within an hour or two and since this project won’t be seeing harsh conditions, Quik Weld will do fine.
This is coming from a person who fully repainted a Reach Figure to represent his Halo: Reach Spartan-III as well as partially repainted two figures to represent his Halo 2 and Halo 3 Spartans.
