It seems people can search and games are made, but it keeps kicking 1 or 2 from the lobby leaving the match a 3v4. For some reason it has happened to me the most and i keep missing games that i was connected to. Will they please fix this?

The Xbox One is almost 10 years old and can be picked up on eBay for around $100. I wouldn’t call that “new”. If you are still playing on a console from two generations ago that is not 343i’s fault. You can still play online on the Xbox 360, just not on the Halo games, so no, they’re not out of luck.

There’s still a few thousand everyday, but for more than a year now my connection issues were so bad I stopped playing.
Imo your best chance is to play peak hours.

I understand the frustration, but growing environmental and financial costs of running and updating decade old servers will eventually force any rational company to cut the lines in the long run. Unless customers want to pay a subscription based service just for the game then the one time purchase can only go so far. One could argue that 343 makes more than enough profits elsewhere to cover it but again the allocation of those resources would have to come from another project which would likely want those fund to be invested back into itself and not Legacy Halo.
I am heartbroken about the servers shutting down this year, and am usually generally anti-corporate and a skeptic of 343 at times but I wouldn’t say there is no reason besides greed as running the servers indefinitely was never really going to be an option, unless of course the current player base is willing to fork up the costs which may also include the costs of hiring more employees to monitor and maintain the servers and can scale up pretty quick.

There are loyal fans still playing reach and their grief of losing the hobby they have enjoyed so much is a totally valid grievance to express and we should at least try to empathize, no reason to say that they don’t matter or put their loyalty in quotations.
I have been greatly enjoying reach since returning to it and am also sad to see it be cut off, and to a degree if higher up execs took even a fraction pay cut they could allow the fans that in part helped create that wealth enjoy there game so there is a degree of greed involved (although, I would still argue that such financial redistribution should probably go elsewhere than video games.), even if it is a minor part and in the greater scheme of things pretty isolated. Also not everyone just has the means to save up hundreds of dollars, a majority of people cant save any money at all nowadays, so again a little empathy can go a long way in finding a healthy conclusion.
I still understand why 343 is shutting them down, and am more excited for the future than I am sad about losing the past, but I also understand why loyal legacy players are sad and why some of them would only see the greed motive and not the other important context of the decision.

Yes i would agree also, it would be dissapointing, but I would say greed is not a part in shutting down the servers. All things must come to an end.

Yes thank you, you understand. Of course there is a level of greed to it… The idea of a subscription is interesting too, i wish they would consider something like that to do right by their fans and these games…

I have money, I have xbox 1 and I still play old reach for the sentiment and part of a community… Many of whom can’t afford an Xbox 1 and will simply not be able to play despite being loyal paying customers for their services… Of course there is an element of greed in this decision. I just hope with time they will think it through and make a big 180 and announce they will keep them running, now that would be right for the community, truly.

For a long time 343 assured the og reach-h3 folks that they wouldn’t be ending online support.
They reiterated this before, and when mcc reach launched.
(About 3 months before reach launched on mcc the old servers became unplayable for me. )
Whenever someone would post here and suggest the reason why the servers are messed up is because they long term want people to upgrade.
Those people were basically shamed on these boards for even suggesting such a thing.
Now they’ve decided to end support.
Fine. But the flip flopping at the end, and the laziness of no stat transfer or legacy stat “tombstone” page on mcc angers me.
Bungie ended stat support recently. I cant be upset with that too much, it’s not their game anymore. But I didn’t see 343 offer to take it over.
A decision has been made to move on from the past, regardless of how we feel. It was a great run.
Imo 343 is missing a lot of opportunities here.
You have some decisions to make.
I uninstalled mcc because in many little ways the original games are better than on mcc.
Your experience might be better than mine.

Exactly man, it is reasons like this they need to reconsider everything. I agree that the classics also have better gameplay and they were lazy with MCC - No voting system, like what? Poor algorithm of map selection forcing players to play the same map over and over again while getting a rare map once in a blue moon, it is quite odd how they released it and left it alone. They really should update MCC with voting system and old maps that were left behind, as well as fix the OG series and just please everyone, its truly frustrating and confusing
