Reach Ranks Would Conflict Mulitpl. Storyline

Now that Halo 4 has a multiplayer backstory to it, Halo: Reach ranks ( warrant officer, mythic , forunner, etc.) would not work anymore.

Think if this , how could a regular Spartan IV be a Forunner rank? That wouldn’t make sense at all.

What would make sense , however, is a Spartan IV with a rank of General, Captain, Major , etc.

So 343 wouldn’t be able to use these ranks and implement them into multiplayer due to the fact that they have added a multiplayer backstory with regular Spartan IV’s in training.

The ranks themselves are just for the players personnel progression(it’s irrelevant if the ranks are placeholder or not). They have no impact on the story, so there is no conflicting issues as the two are separate.

The backstory only sets up the reason for fighting, nothing more. These Spartan IVs aren’t fighting for promotions, just for training purposes.

I didn’t love the Reach ranks, but I’m sure they won’t conflict with the storyline, as A CRITICAL HIT said, it’s only for personal progression.

Are sure you about that? Your original post is about the ranks and how they don’t make sense because military don’t use ranks like “Mythic” or “Forerunner”. You didn’t mention anything about trying to enlighten those who think it’s not a place holder. If so, you should have been more specific (at least that’s how i felt).

Also, i already knew this rank stuff was placeholder so i am not ignorant.

Your spartan would have a rank, so it makes sense that whatever rank you have gained would reflect on your spartan.

Ranks in Halo 4 should be realistic, so that the actual spartans would be able to gain that rank in the Halo universe.

Another fact that most people overlook is that the ranks in halo reach were for the ARMY, not the NAVY, the ranks in halo 3 were for the navy. This is why I believe we may have a ranking system to halo 3, because we are playing as a character in the navy again.

I hope so. I loved the rank names and the rank insignias from Halo 3.
