Like the title says I haven’t been able to properly access the Reach online fileshare for at least a month now. I created a thread a few weeks back in the Reach forum but there hasn’t been any official or even non official news. Is anyone looking into this? The time to fix a database issue has come and gone.
One request. If and when it gets fixed it would be nice to have it upgraded to match the new Halo 5 fileshare. Finally we have a proper upgrade to Bungies fileshare. Lets get it into the mix. It would also be great if we could get the MCC collection on board as well. People still play these games. There should easily be enough money laying around to keep a database in running order.

I wouldn’t say it’s unreasonable, although support for old games I feel is going to be waning even more, which is coming from Microsoft more than 343 IMO. For example, the player counter has been gone for awhile now as well. Subtle moves perhaps to move people from the 360 to the One.
Reach is already on the Xbone and apparently there are a tonne of active players, especially considering it’s age and that it’s a previous console gen title. As for MCC, it wouldn’t even exist if people weren’t interested in playing the old titles. Man do I wish they would add the 3d feature back to Halo 1A. It was pretty awesome even though they reduced the hell out of the image quality to do it. It would play awesome on the Xbone with the settings bumped back up.
Gamers appreciate companies who show love for their old titles. Even if almost no-one goes back to play it, gamers respect for that company go up. In the case of Halo, there are plenty out there playing the old titles. Anything done to improve players experience with the entirety of the Halo collection benefits the bottom line when future titles come out. Forgetting where Halo came from is one of the largest gripes in the Halo community.
I would like to say this is an update but it’s actually a reminder. Reach online fileshare is still down. Something that someone could fix in an afternoon shouldn’t be down this long.
All right this is ridiculous. Let’s get some ****ing word on what is going on with file share. It’s been since October last year. What the hell is the point of a support forum if there is zero support in it.
There still seem to be problems with the file share.
I can download and upload files. However, each time I upload something, I get an error message after it has finished.
Unfortunately, that prevents the achievement ‘A Storage Solution’ from unlocking. I’d really appreciate a fix.
I can’t believe that I posted this a year ago and there is not one reply by an admin. Seriously, not even a "not sure what’s going on I’ll forward this to the appropriate people. If Microsoft is going to go back and spiffy up all the Halo games it’s imperative that they get the online fileshare for Reach working. There’s still plenty of us who like to play customs on there.
It’s disabled, even in 2017. 343 disabled it because it had too much on its hands, while Bungie had time to carefully fix alll of the glitches. They disabled it becasue they added Halo 5 forge and thought that it would replace all other forge sessions on all the other halo games.
If file share isn’t working, It’s not because 343 have deliberately taken it offline. If they had, there would have been an announcement to that effect
I think I’ll lean on Splerm side as an acceptable answer. It’s been unavailable for far too long for it not to be a deliberate shut down. That being said the system should have been fairly self sufficient and outside of doing a reset every now and again it shouldn’t have taken much to maintain. It’s not like it takes much effort to run a glorified FTP server.
The other thing I have a problem with is the notion that people will upgrade to a newer system just because it’s better. There are so many maps in the old system that are amazing to play and reach has a game style, weapons list and vehicles that is unique to that title. It’s a blast to play and the only way it could truly be put to rest is if they recreated Reach in a newer engine that had a new forge that was capable of loading in the old custom maps, Even then you would still need a server to run them.
I’m totally for a remastered Reach but they really need to offer either an import feature or leave in the classic Forge World with support for the existing Fileshare. I would still want to see a new Forge in there because the idea of combining Reach’s features in an advanced Forge is exciting. If they go with simpler method of using the old Forge World it would be nice if they upgraded some of the Forge editor features. Lighting and new objects might be a bit much but better object control, duplicate, and if possible snap and grouping. My biggest problem with adding the old Forge back to Halo 3 in the MCC is that they never bothered to upgrade those horrific object controls. It wouldn’t have been so bad if they at least offered support for the existing Halo 3 fileshare but the idea of going back in there and recreating maps gave me nightmares.
