Hey all, just wondering if anyone else has gameplay issues on Reach multiplayer? I thought Halo 4 was bad with things like shots not registering (unloading into an opponent and nothing happens, being meleed in 1 hit but my melee’s do nothing) but Reach is terrible! I can get taken out in 2-3 shots but my shots do nothing… I get that I’m connecting in from the west coast of Australia to probably US servers and I’m getting high latency but this is ridiculous and my experience so far is completely horrible which is a real shame (it’s nice to have a change from H4 MP every know and then). I also realise that Reach is a harder MP to take down your opponent and you need to close the distance compared to H4 but just wanted to know if anyone else has terrible gameplay and I’m not the only one… Thanks for your time and much appreciated.

my reach works fine and im in aus Sydney
multiplayer is smooth but can have some frames rate issues
but infection in reach is hideous for the amount of time ive been infected but lag
Thanks RedBackSting, my gameplay is just absolute garbage and unplayable, may be connection problems… oh well shame as Reach is being shelved
Could be connection problems. If memory serves, Halo 3/Reach prioritised host connection to U.S players, which sometimes made it difficult for UK/AUS/EU players.
Only thing you can do on your end is ensure your internet speeds are ok (family not downloading anything, youtube/netflix etc) and ensure you are using an ethernet cable.
Does it just happen to me? Or are there no servers in halo 4?

Thanks for that, yeah I’m on NBN (just read that Perth has the slowest broadband internet speeds in Australia of around 17.9 Mbps, good work NBN Co…) and are using an ethernet cable etc. I’m just bummed out as I know it’s not the game but just my location and Reach is my favorite campaign, and from what I have seen of the multiplayer it looks like a lot of fun which frustrates me even more, thank again for your help.
I live in Portugal, and when I play Reach MP, it works fine, in fact, it’s like if I was playing in the US. However, when I play Firefight online, the connection becomes garbage. In Halo 4, MP is just like Reach, perfect. But if I go to Spartan Ops, the connection gets worse but atleast it’s better than Reach’s.
Halo 3 however, I simply can’t play online :(.

Then you haven’t played Halo 3 yet. Have you? That games takes more skill, especially because the weapons are now Projectile based instead of Hit Scan. In other words, it’s not “As soon as you pull the trigger, your shots will instantaneously hit whatever’s in front of them”, which made sniping harder and weird IMO.
Reach MP is full of tryharders. Here’s an advice.
Don’t go to “CrFarmandSpawntrapping Ball”, in other words, Grif Ball.

Hey mate, thanks for your reply. H4 is very hit and miss for me in regards to playability but much much better than Reach… I’ve actually just started playing H3 MP the other day and have had much better success (and a lot of fun) with the gameplay so have been playing it since. Agree about the skill level in H3 plus it takes a little more getting use to with the default button layout but that’s all good. It’s a pity that we all can’t have great gameplay on all the titles, as going between them all is a nice change and good fun!
Thanks for the advice I might try some different game modes in Reach and see what connectivity / gameplay I get.
Hope all is well in Portugal

I’m also better in Halo 4 than in Reach. I have joined so many on-going Rumble Pit games and simply obliterated everyone finishing in 1st more than once. It was also in Halo 4 when I finally got my first Perfection about a month ago. :D.
For me, in Halo 3, it’s not about the button layout but the guns themselves.
I don’t know. In Portugal it’s either PS or PC, CS: GO, GTA V or Fifa. I have NEVER found anyone who at least likes to play Halo (but there’s some people who own an Xbox). So I think I can consider myself the only portuguese Halo player. But regardless, thank you
Wow I’m not even close to getting a Perfection EVER, well done! That’s funny because I don’t know anyone where I live who plays Halo either, Oh well nice chatting to you mate and see you on the battlefield
At times the lag comes out, but to be honest there haven’t been many MP games that doesn’t have some sort of lag. Firefight especially lags from time to time, but overall it hasn’t been enough to keep me from playing. It would be nice if everyone could have decent internet speeds but unfortunately “Big Brother” has gotta make that money somewhere. Even with good internet ( I have 150 Down 30 up ) it isn’t always as stable as it should be.
My advice is if you enjoy the game, sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad. At the end of the day you gotta ask yourself, Did I have fun? If so keep on keeping on, but if not it may be time to try something else out for awhile. It took time for me to understand that even though it’s simple, but I am glad I did and so is my girlfriend lol. We have literally cut our game library by 3/4 and just keeping what we actually like playing such as the Halo’s, Battlefield, and COD (modern ones and the WW2 ones, thought the exo suit COD’s were trash. Not to mention Halo is a sci-fi fps I didn’t need COD to copy them and go that route as well).

Fantastic advice! Yes you are 100% correct, which is why I continue to play through the bad because when I get great gameplay it’s so much fun
and makes it all worthwhile plus I just really love playing Halo… thanks for your reply KD, appreciated.
That’s what matters my friend just having fun. Ill be honest if it wasn’t for Combat Evolved I probably wouldn’t own an Xbox or even play games. That game with system link just set off a love affair that I have with the game. I remember I was the first of my friends to get H2 and have XBL. I remember my brother, my best friend, myself, and my dad playing Rumble Pit on Beaver Creek and long nights of BTB on Zanzibar and Coagulation. None of us were good, my dad especially but we had a blast and it’s memories like those that keep me coming back to Halo.
I don’t think there will be another game that has had an impact on me that these games have had. Good times.
I hope it continues to grow, and hopefully I can create more memories.
