Did the plasma launcher always bypass shields and do direct damage to health? Also, what’s with the wraith being able to mortar people off of it? Both of these things are kind of ridiculous. Also, just played another match where everyone on my team except me quit again. Why even play this game?

To my memory PLasma Launcher has always done the same, the Wraith can mortar people off because it hits scenery and splash hits it and if u don’t wanna play Reach than don’t

The Plasma Launcher’s such a bad weapon that it’s only used by scrubs who can’t aim, so don’t worry about that…The Wraith thing’s kinda annoying, but it does big damage to the Wraith which your team should use to take it down…You die, the Wraith dies, you’re even…

But no the plasma launcher does not bypass shields. It’s just very powerful.
And splash damage is what gets you killed on the front of a wraith.

I’m fairly sure it bypasses shields. I was in my wraith and got stuck by two of those grenades. I died, but my wraith was hardly damaged. I know it bypasses shields by the way my HUD reads me having red health, but full shield. And I don’t get how to mortar people off my wraith. People aim down and shoot me off all the time. What am I doing wrong? If there was a slight incline or a hill in front of the wraith, then I could see where splash damage would be a reasonable suggestion. But on flat land; forget about it…
Let me make a formal apology for the phrase,“Why even play this game?” A lot of people seemed to be turned off or take offense by this. It’s just the same team quitting crap that happens literally every BTB game. But here you go. I’m sorry

The Plasma Launcher is an explosive power weapon. They do so much damage that it bleed through to your health, leaving you nearly dead and begging for a medpack. FRG does this, pro pipe does this, Rockets and so forth. The Sniper also shares this bleedthrough property.
Same with the Plasma Launcher, it’s always been able to kill boarders from the front since launch. I don’t recommend you board from the front as it takes way to long too get a nade inside (unless the driver sucks, but even decent players will kill you before you can).
Try going for it’s vulnerable backside if you plan to board and the Wraith won’t blast you off. Easier said than done i know but that plays into the whole risk/reward thing.
As for quitters, that’s what playing with random players is going to be like. Always going to have quitter online and this ain’t exclusive to Halo either. Play with friends you know and you’ll enjoy your matches more.
Think of the plasma launcher like a plasma grenade, if you get stuck by it you die.
As for the Wraith, I don’t find it that bad. Only skilled players seem to do that well anyways.
people have been doing that with the wraith even in Halo 3
If this keeps happening to you then you could always check the fourms on waypoint and other gaming websites to see if people want to team up for some halo reach then you know people wont quit and you can communicate which can lead to a bigger chance of winning!! 
I can never do the wraith thing. I dont think its the shell hitting the ground in front either, ive played it back a few times and it looks like you can directly shoot a guy off your hatch with it. Ridiculous.

yeah team quitting does happen far too often. Especially if your team is losing. Only thing I can really suggest is play with friends.
