I liked the changes they put in to Halo: Reach. Armor abilities were fresh, they were cool, and they added a nice new dimension to game play. Now while some people complain that armor abilities made the game unbalanced, I have to disagree. There were only 5 options and everyone had equal access to all of these options. Reach was still balanced because everyone has the same options.
Plus, some abilities such as Drop Shield increased the amount of teamwork involved.
And there are plenty of ways all of the other abilities can be used for teamwork.
Hologram is quite obvious. One person distracts, the other shoots.
Armor lock works as a distraction that keeps people interested. People will pay attention to someone in armor lock, people won’t care about a hologram if they know it’s a hologram.
Active camo ambushes work best with lots of people. This needs lots of coordination, but it is extremely effective.
If a group of people use sprint, they can run around as a team overwhelming their opponents. Same thing with evade.
I think I agree that I missed Halo 3’s ranking system. That was Reach’s biggest flaw.
But Halo 4 is going too far.
With these new unlockable abilities, weapons, and whatever, people will be able to spawn with stuff other people cannot. This is just too far. Halo 4 is throwing balance out of the window. Plus Forerunner vision will cause tons of problems in matchmaking. (However, I think it will be very cool for Spartan Ops, Campaign, and Custom Games.)
And what for? To attract CoD and Battlefield fans. You must understand, that won’t work. CoD fans will play CoD. Battlefield fans will play Battlefield. You are just losing a huge fan base in a vain attempt to take CoD’s fan base.
