Reach LAG

This week I’ve been playing Reach at night and I’ve never experienced so much lag as for this week seriously, wtf are you doing 343?

343 aren’t doing anything, all the Halo games on consoles use a peer to peer networking system.

If you are experiencing lag, then it either at the fault of your connection, or the hosts.

My Internet has always been lower than what is considered " optimal" and lag has always been minor.

Using wireless?

I use a wireless connection and I do not have lag.
Of course, it is impossible to find out who has lag and who doesn’t, because there is no PING counter and it doesn’t show you who is the host.
The servers do a really bad job picking hosts most of the time. Murphy’s law (if something can go bad it will go bad) describes it.
And firefight… ugh. It’s practically unplayable with even 1 lagger.

a big elite lagged through the door to kill my brother!

It kinda is, but for some reason the game always manages to pick the worst host… As a European it’s just terrible, we never ever get the host… never… I can’t even remember the last game that wasn’t laggy, must have been at least a thousand games ago. I gave up on getting any better at the game at one point, because the lag just destroys the gameplay anyway.

There is some kind of meter though. Here is a video where my team goes into black screen and starts yelling at me because I think I pull host. On my screen it said everybody was yellow bar… But on everyone’s screen I was red bar.

Does any one know what this meter represents?

Oh boy if they added the ping counter… then a LOT of lag boosters would be busted

I play both reach and Halo 4, in the past few weeks I’ve experienced more lag playing halo 4 then I have playing reach, the last few times i’ve played firefight there seemed to be no lag. the last time I played a MP match on reach (been awhile, 7 - 8 months or more)I did encounter a lot of lag and lag boosters/switchers (stuff that cant be explained away by simple lag), so i have not played MP for awhile now, so I dont know what thats like now

oh yeah some matches were so bad it was black screen for minuets several times a match. Very annoying.

I think it is something with 343i servers/netcode or whatever you want to call it. Because I seem to be experiencing more lag anymore ever since 343i took over Halo. I seem to lag more on 4 than Reach.

I do know what the meter represents (the strength of the connection, or at least how good the connection is), and boy, it seems that it’s rare to get a green bar these last few days. Decent teams are especially hard to find as well, at least for me.
There was one game of Invasion on Refinery, and while the game was black-screened (a good portion of the time) I looked at people’s gamer cards.
There was only 1 player from Australia, and i’ll bet he was picked as a host. Then again, there were lots of mexicans in the game too…

And if it DOES blackscreen, take note of the score before it BSed. If it rises any higher during this, then someone is Blackscreening

I have had that happen in 4 a couple of times most or all the team i was on would be blackscreened and the other tem would be rakin in the points
