Just quit Halo 4 in annoyance over yet another rush-spam-die match, one big noisy clusterluck of not much fun.
And I decided, what the hell, I’ll load Reach up instead. See if they did actually improve anything.
Oh. Oh, sweet Deity and all his/her little angels/demons/snot goblins. It’s like coming home. Sure, the graphics and control responses and whatnot aren’t quite as crisp and sharp as Halo 4, but everything else is back where it belongs.
No kill cams. No instant respawn. No Ordnance overload. No LEEROY! suicide spam, where players rush in, die and then get the kill anyway because of Instaspawn. Better maps. No bloody Haven!
I’ve come home. Reach is the son of Halo 3, and is Halo like it’s MEANT to be played and, more importantly, enjoyed. The first match I lost but, amazingly, I didn’t care. Halo 4 reduces me to rage because of the spam and lack of skill and overall cheapness of it all. But we lost that match and deserved to lose, because the other team played better. I…didn’t mind. Fair play to them. I’ll do better next time and have a valid chance of winning.
I’ve come home, and Reach is it. Thanks for all the fish but, y’know, Quality comes first.
I still fail to see what was so bad about Reach. The differences between it and Halo 3 are pretty simple, changes in weapons and the “Waaah waaah DMR!” that has never ceased to this day (Stating the obvious, I know)
Comparing that to the masses of very noticeable changes and gameplay modifications that came with Halo 4 and…seriously, I think people are either looking at H3 with rose tinted glasses or just swore to hate Reach no matter what else came along.
You’re observing something intrinsic and strange about human nature.
And you’ll see it again in 3 years – someone will decide that Halo 5 is a travesty, and that returning to Halo 4 brings about that old-fashioned classic Halo vibe.
Not that I’m agreeing that Reach is low-quality. But the forum’s opinion of the game change over time, especially when a new iteration arises. Reach will likely become a pleasant memory, just like Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Played Halo CE on PC when I was younger. Played casually, still a lot of fun.
Missed Halo 2 online.
Played Halo 3 a lot, mixed with CoD: Modern Warfare (i.e. before they ballsed up what was otherwise an enjoyable military shooter. The rest have just been bloody awful)
Played Reach like a freaking addict.
And probably still will. Why? Because Halo 4 is the only one that has actually had me rage quitting. Who knows, maybe I’ve just burned out on FPS’s after so many years, or I’m just sucking more than I ever did. Or, y’know, maybe all the glitches, bugs and changes that make it not feel like any previous Halo have just soured it for me?
Either way, I don’t think this is as much a daft notion as previous Halo’s. Barring some number/weapon balances/changes, Halo CE, H2, H3 and Reach were all, at the basic level, very similar. I know there will be pros and diehards telling me how wrong I am, but you can’t logically deny that the changes made from one to the other were as sizeable as the massive overhaul that came with Halo 4.
the only thing halo 4 is missing are some bug fixes and there is missing some playlists and maps. and i thing halo 4 is alot better then reach was. the multiplayer of reach was bad, but i loved forge and the playlists.
This was like Halo 3. People used to hate on Halo 3 when it first released and preferred Halo 2. People hated Reach and then started preferring Halo 3. I see this cycle has started for Halo 4. This will happen again with Halo 5.
I could not possibly disagree more. Halo 4 has some issues that I hope will get addressed sooner rather than later, but in no way can I relate to the OP’s opinion. Halo:Reach was fun for me but I can’t remember having as much fun as I am currently having with Halo 4. The game is fun and fast paced. The maps for the most part are well done and fun to play on. The netcode/lag whatever needs tlc asap as does JiP but overall I am having a blast.
Ahh the old “Let’s hate on the new game” trend. It’s ALWAYS hilarious when the previous title that was hated for no (Good) reason (other than "It r not Halo 2 with moar gunz n MAPS!!11!) is praised by the same crowed that hated on it just because the new game is out.
Come Halo 5 We’ll be having people call Reach a classic, and wanting it to be remade over and over again like everyone did with 2 when Reach came out. lol

There is nothing strange about saying that the last sucky game isnt as sucky when compared the current game that sucks worst.
