Let me start off by saying that I’m new to forums, any forum.
You may just want to skip to the bottom, that’s where my questions are. The following is what led me to ask my questions…
So… this is what happens… My connection is 11.59 mbps down, 1.5 mbps up with a ping of 32ms. I will be playing a custom game by myself, no one else, just waiting for my friend to get online or waiting for him to finish his match made game. His connection is literally half of what mine is and has a higher ping. He joins the custom game I made, screen goes black, then he pulls host from me.
We play doubles a lot, he gets host probably 19/20 games, the other 1/20 being the other team. I never get it, ever.
Playing doubles by myself: I don’t get host, my team mate randomly quits. Screen goes black for host migration. Enemy gets host. I start winning 2v1, member from other team quits, screen goes black again. Host has migrated twice, I still don’t get it. I’m thinking, “do they pick the guy with the worst connection…?”
I looked at my past games, I figue I probably havn’t had host for the last 400 games or so(maybe more). I know this because I mainly play doubles, and the joke for the past 3 months is that my friend always gets host over me, despite my better connection.
I start thinking that I might be host banned. I looked it up, read about, and figure: I can never be host apparently…
Then it happend. I FINALLY got host! The game goes good, score was about 14-12. Then a message from Xbox live pops up on my screen saying something along the lines of: you’ve been disconnected from XBL for 10 minutes. However, I immeditly sign back in, play a dozen or so more games, only to not get host. I can imagine them thinking something like “oops, we gave Main Link host, let’s just kick him offline and be sure it doesn’t happen again”.
Is there really such thing as host ban? When the game picks host, what does it look for(best connection/up/ping)? To me it’s just weird. I got ban once for quitting too many times(who votes for elite slayer…) other than that, I’m perfectly clean. I also feel I should mention I pull host a LOT on CoD, just incase…
