Reach Honestly needs to be reborn. Begin again with a clean slate

This might sound like an outlandish suggestion, but Reach is Horrible as is now.

They need to take out Vanilla. They need to take Out TU. They need to take out all the playlists. They need to take out all the custom maps.

As a community we would be obliged to help rebuild Reach, but as of now Reach’s gameplay is broken on both sides (TU and Vanilla) and there are so many useless playlists and segmented communities.

So technically, What I’m proposing, is to Remake Reach’s MP. Put both TU and vanilla aspects, and make it the new core gameplay. Replace all the crappy stale Forge world maps with new fresh ones. Find a way to rework AAs into the MP a better way than at launch. Make all new, better playlists.

Really, I think this has to be done to save reach. It might make some people unhappy, but Reach is getting to the point of being a bigger screw up than it ever was.

For a lack of better terms, imagine a country before a civil war. That was before the TU. With the TU out we are now fighting the war, but it looks like no side is winning, and we’re destroying Reach in the process. We can now do one of two things. Stop the arguing and work together to rebuild Reach’s MP, or keep it up and destroy any joy we all found in Reach.

Reach is broken, and so is this community. And only we can fix it.

After the horrible March update, I agree with this.

And I ask the community a huge favor, and that’s to stay constructive and keep this thread alive for 343 to see.

Or, we can wait until Halo 4, it being right around the corner and making sure it’s the best damn game we, the community, can make it early off in it’s life.

We could. But honestly, I think that We all know the compromises that would have to be made for everyone to be happy, I think I do at least. All 343 would have to do is implement them, with some player generated maps and remake the gametypes. Doesn’t seem too hard.

As good an idea that is, I think it should have been done when the TU came out. It is far too late to completely redo a game when the sequel is coming out so soon.

So delete everything and hope the replacement is better when that description doesn’t say what you want changed?

Its really not gonna happen. It wouldnt happen even if halo 4 wasnt 10 months away.

The game had been out too long IMO for even the first batch of TU changes.

> So delete everything and hope the replacement is better when that description doesn’t say what you want changed?

Because it’s not about me, it’s about us. The Halo Community. So come on. Discuss about compromises and your desires. I’ll try to fashion a list of what to change.

I don’t see any problems with Reach, its fine.

They can’t just redo the code base of the entire game on a whim.

The TU we got took a couple months of work by itself.

Reworking everything based on a single thread would be a waste of time for 343 programmers.

There is a nice existing analogy to this suggestion. A few years back this happened to Star wars Galaxies. The entire game was overhauled with the NGE(New Game Enhancements). The result? People stopped paying for Galaxies in mass. Sure some people got the ability to play the Jedi like they wanted, but the majority of the player base just left. Galaxies was in a sorry state when I joined up (Luckily, i joined Chilastra long after the NGE).

This wouldn’t work for Halo at all, The player recoil would be significantly worse than the response to the TU updates.

Im the halo community and im happy with whats happened today. Its a good compromise.

When you say “us” did you actually mean “our faction” is the halo community? No, thats not right at all.

This is great in theory but…
Some playlists would simply have to exist as they do now (ex. SWAT, MLG, Grifball) due to the fact they are run by individual communities themselves.
This already cuts down what your changing. Second issue, how do you decide on what the new gameplay mechanics are? We don’t exactly have a very compromising consensus based community as is. Third issue, more of a personal one, why take out all the old maps? There are some legitimately good ones around. And if you did keep any of them, once again how would the decision ing process work?
If you suggest a vote then there are issues with that too. What if you have a vote like this: Bloom Yes: 5952 No: 4832 Yes bloom won but only a small portion of Reach’s population voted, and a large portion of that population is unsatisfied.
Once again would be great in theory, but not in practice.

It’s pretty easy for them to mess around with settings. Not recode the game, but remake the gametypes. It’s so easy, players do it with custom games.

I didn’t mean “Our Faction” I meant all of us here at the forums. And evidently not all of us enjoy Reach as it is, so there will have to be more of a compromise. To be honest the whole thing seemed like an attempt to antagonize me.
