Reach has no skill ranking

So the past few games I’ve played especially in Team Objective clearly shows there is no such thing as a hidden ranking system in Reach. There isn’t and I refuse to believe otherwise. I successfully worked out who was going to be on my team, and then who would be on the other team.

Every single game I had a guest and I’d always have the lowest ranking players on my team. Every team I’d face would the higher ranking players in the game and we’d get beaten, sometimes to the point where enough was enough.

Not only would my team lack skill (which is an under statement), they’d also quit when we’d start loosing and in about 10 games, about eight or nine times, a player would quit from my team. It’s getting beyond a joke and forced me to think about completely avoiding team oriented playlists.

There is no ranking system at all, that is complete rubbish and the matching system is so bad. It never matches people fairly and and is so predictable.

Believe what you want, doesnt change reality. Try searching on skill and cross your fingers.

Also you think the game matches you according to your CR rank, lol.

It’s not that there is no skill searching, it’s that there is no population to back it up so it might as well not exist. Especially in TO.

Yes low pop is the one statistical constraint that kills matching ability.

Which is why its a shame that certain people insisted they needed their own playlists for their own specific kinks of the game introduced with the TU. Nothing hurts MM more than this sort of dilution.

I think 343i need to pick one or the other, and cut back specific playlists like snipers and SWAT to pool some population so matchmaking works better.

Maybe the design theory on this was that reach was so different that someone playing it longer had an advantage of having the time to adapt?

Although as a recruit I recall playing captains, nobles, eclipses, heroes and the like.

Theres no way to do that now without absolutely screwing over one set of people or the other. On balance and with the benefit of hindsight, (TU did little to reduce the whining in the end, as predicted) they should have left the game well enough alone as it was, or at least kept the TU changes to actual bug fixes and not introduced simply another set of gameplay preferences into the MM ecosystem.

The trueskill is in the game. It’s not strict though because reach’s population can’t support normal the trueskill we had in halo 2/3

This is why the TU should have been a game-wide addition. None of this Team Slayer/Super Slayer -Yoink- further dividing the community. There should only be one 4v4 Slayer playlist. Instead of adding more and more playlists, 343 should have removed the abundant ones.

Wasn’t a fan of the Super Slayer/TS change but that’s 343 trying to please both sides.

As proven with BTB, TU or Vanilla won’t matter for the majority of players who don’t care/know the details. TS would still hold a high population but i agree that Super Slayer has a low population.

Nothing was “proven” by forcing the TU in BTB, if there was another BTB, I would bet any amount of money, just like TS it would be more popular, by far.

I look forward to Halo 4 as I can be almost 100% sure 343 will not give a YOINK! about people who whine about this mechanic or that mechanic, the game will be as it was when it was released all the way to the next installment. Which is exactly how it should be, this TU business has been a giant waste of time and resources on a group of players who are still not satisfied. And this group represent such a small portion of the population it is astounding to me that 343 thought it was a good idea to cater to them in such a way.

The other side, the ones that actually liked Reach, were pissed off by the TU and to add insult to injury, the same guys that were -Yoinking!- and moaning, either still left or have continued to complain that Reach is a piece of garbage and are not pleased by having a personal rework of the mechanics to favor their playstyle.

Super Slayer has a low population because it was a change most were not asking for, right now super slayer and MLG combined only add up to 1000 players, TS 4500.

It is startling that so few players could make so much noise for so long.

I don’t know, having Super Slayer right under one of the most popular playlists (TS, which happens to be the first option) isn’t going to help matters. TS would have a high population with Vanilla or TU; it doesn’t matter to the average Reach player who stays off the forums/just plays the game.

Those that prefer or hate TU/Vanilla; all of us are in the minority and very loud at that. In the end the settings do not matter to the majority as most were uninformed or didn’t care during the voting phase. At least, that was my experience and i believe others had to explain the differences to the players who didn’t know (whom again, are in a much larger number than we are here on the forums).

To be honest, the introduction of Super Slayer is a bit pointless as i could have been happy with just Rumble Pit being TU. I hope that for Halo 4 settings (unlike Vanilla Reach IMO) much more enjoyable and fun to watch right out the box.

It shouldn’t be startling Plunder :stuck_out_tongue: Typing allows you to use ! < these little guys here, which explains how we’ve been so loud in the past xD.

Those were some crazy times, despite our differences in opinions ^.^.

Why do you care so much you probably just suck so it places you with sucky people and if you odnt like the system go play halo 3 bro…
Enough said.

Get a load of this guy.

your point is?..im matched up against good players and terrible ones alike all the time. there is no pattern. same thing happened with me in halo 3. the only game that was ever some what predicitible was halo 2.

I can guarantee that if the TU was applied to Team Slayer in the first place, there would have been almost no change in population, mainly because most people would not have noticed. The reason Team Slayer is so popular is because it is the first playlist to choose from in the Competitive playlist, and Team Slayer is a name every Halo fan knows, so they look at things like Super Slayer and don’t care to find out what it is. Putting the TU in Team Slayer would not affect population, just like putting the TU in every playlist would not affect population.

Say it enough times and maybe it will be true eh? I like your style.

Ill explain the BTB anomaly. There is only one BTB list and it was infected with TU, people cannot vote with their feet because theres nowhere else to go for BTB action. If there was a vanilla BTB id be there in a heartbeat. It should be reverted in light of the anni BTB being TU.

Now explain how every playlist that was newly created with TU settings has cratered like an asteroid, where people DID have somewhere else to go IE back to vanilla lists. Best example being TS vs SS, where SS had plenty of testing by new players as it equalled TS on its first weekend i remember, and even overtook TS during a credit bonus weekend. Yet every time it has slipped back to about a tenth of Team Slayers population, and TS has reabsorbed players who are obviously making an informed decision about what they like. Remember the only difference between them at that point was TU settings. Thats a pretty conclusive vote of no confidence in TU, and kids can twist themselves up in mental knots trying to say it aint so, but it is.
