Why are guests permitted in 99.9% of the playlists in Reach? I don’t understand… it dramatically takes down the competitiveness of the game and is just frustrating. If I don’t have 4 people and go into Team Snipers (a playlist that is not meant for guests) I get guests on my team all the time. People who don’t know how to play the game attempting to use a precision weapon. These people don’t even pay for Xbox Live and yet you’re giving them the full ability to use it. This just doesn’t make any sense to me, guests should be limited to less serious playlists like grifball or action sack. There is no reason for them to be in other playlists.

So, what you’re saying is that if I don’t have Halo pals online… I just can’t play the playlist that I love? How hard is it to even pair people with similar skill? That is the lamest thing ever. I don’t see what’s so difficult about limiting the playlists guests can play. People who are unfamiliar with the xbox have no reason to be in Snipers and if me and a buddy want to go in together with no one else, we shouldn’t be stuck with having to carry -20 because they don’t know how to run a custom game. Just saying, we don’t need to give them every playlist, they’re not even paying for Xbox Live. I hope to god there is a ranked snipers playlist in Halo 4.
When Halo dropped on XboX, part of its success was in part to rooms filled with four people huddled around a TV that was split. Its basically part of the Halo experience and my opinion, should never be removed from Halo.
I didn’t say it should be removed, but more so appropriately limited. I feel like since I’m paying to keep Xbox Live up and running, I’m in turn helping pay for guests… So I’m paying for the guests to make me lose in a playlist that they have no reason to be in. I wish people would just use common sense. Don’t send new people into a precision weapons playlist… go play a custom game. Not that hard of a concept.

It is not your game. It is for everyone. If someone wants to bring a guest they are free to do so. The only reason local parties are limited at 2 is frame rate issues. As already said Arena is the only competitive playlist. Every other one is social.

You can play the playlist all you like, but if you want no guests, then search with friends, if you haven’t got any friends online, then tough, something you have to deal with.
Limiting guests to custom games isn’t exactly going to help them learn to get better, they aren’t going to be facing different players of different skill sets which will test their abilities.
Once again a fix for this and many other issues would have been a split playlist (Ranked and Social). But with halo 4 only four months away there is no point in complaining about matchmaking. Especially with no playlist update until August. 343 has already stated that its all hands on deck trying to push H4 out the door.
I agree with OP. Having guests in Team Slayer usually results in them quitting, and 70% of the time they’re on my damn team! Guests should be limited to Campaign and Firefight.

Campaign and FF are laggy. I assume worse with Split screen.
Guests shouldn’t be allowed in Super Slayer, The Arena, Team Objective, or MLG. They can be in doubles and FFA because you can’t get a guy and his guest on your team in doubles and there are no teams in FFA.
They shouldn’t be in MLG because they’ll get destroyed and might not want to play again because of that. lol
Super Slayer since it is a more competitive TS and they can just go play Team Slayer.
Arena because it’s ranked.
Objective because it has an extremely skilled population and guests could cause a team to get spawn trapped and destroyed. Objective is also more competitive as well.

Yeah, I see this alot too. I think the host takes the bottom screen since it’ll be easier for them. I could be wrong though.
