Reach forge and improvements

I have heard that when reach comes to MCC reach’s forge will be receiving small re-works. However, what these re-works would be or if these rumors are even true I don’t even know.

in the spirit of these rumors being theoretically true. lets look at some improvements (that are within reason, as reach is an old game and forge is definitely not going to be raised to the same level as Halo 5’s forge) that would be great additions.

features:

  • magnetsthis snap-to feature is very helpful. it makes placing blocks easier as opposed to trying to free-hand everything and hoping that each wall/floor/ceiling is perfectly flush with each other

  • duplicate objectthis just helps to make the build process faster. instead of having to go into the selection menu find a piece and align the piece in a specific orientation over and over again, this allows the builder to duplicate an object that’s already on the map in the same orientation

  • larger budget and item limitself explanatory. a larger budget and larger item limit allows us to create even bigger and better maps

objects:

  • campaign falconthis would be useful for anyone wanting to make machinmas or anyone trying to make massive multiplayer game-modes. it should be pretty easy to add as well, as it is already in the game.

  • trees and bushesCurrently, there are no placeable trees or bushes in reach’s forge. this would be useful for anyone trying to make a forrest map or anything that requires trees or bushes

  • even bigger rocks/rock wallsuseful for making natural maps. these could help to cover up the forerunner tunnel or the beach cave on forge world or even allow players to massive rocky formations and cliffs without using an excessive amount of small rocks, which is difficult with the current budget and item limit

  • transport warthog (maybe)this one may be a bit more difficult as it would require 343 to make a whole new object model and script it so players can sit in the back. but it would be useful for the same reasons as the campaign falcon.

canvases:
new forge canvases is a bit of a stretch and it would require whole chunks of land to be sculpted. but Ive been thinking, what if 343 could take the pre-existing forge world canvas and give it some re-skins/re-textures. these of course would not be ready by the time reach comes to MCC and would most likely become available at a much later date. but this isn’t very likely, just a hopeful “what if”

  • desert forge world with a barren and sandy re-texture. maybe if the water and deep water death barrier on the map could be removed somehow more open land could be available to work on

  • snowyit would essentially be the same as a desert re-texture, only with snow and ice

are there any features, objects, or anything else (within reason. again, its an old game) that you think could possibly come to MCC’s reach forge?

The Falcon with an autocannon and the others are already a thing on 360 but there is only one problem with that Falcon : Elites have no prompt or animation for the seats inside, a ‘bro’ spawn can place them inside but they are stuck and can’t get out alone.

> Something that I’d love to see that you didn’t mention though, and something I was surprised wasn’t in the original game’s forge/multiplayer, are the various civilian vehicles from the campaign. In addition to the forklift and the truck that Jorge can ride on the back of, there are several types of slow-moving drive-able trucks exclusive to the campaign, as well as the drive-able luggage transport “cart” on the mission ONI Sword Base.

civilian work vehicles would be an interesting addition, either as drivable vehicles or just as static aesthetic objects

While we’re at it, can we (the “less than 10 of us”) get this for Halo 3 as well?

it was not part of the base game on 360

Only out of reach sadly, the Falcon could be fun if used as ‘hot potato’ like that hog-potato gametype but in combat… why bother using the side turrets when the autocannon turn the thing into a one-man crew (and screw the gunners because of the pilot trying to shoot enemies) ?

I would not expect anything too crazy. They probably just meant that they will optimize it for PC.

its not only the nose gun, but also passenger seats, the seats make it so the falcon can carry more players. this would allow teams of players to land and depart at strategic locations. this falcon has more uses than just gameplay, its very useful for making machinimas. back on the 360, machinima makers would use these special falcons so more characters can be riding in a single falcon on camera rather than 2 or 3 falcons.

The Transport Warthog is in the game, only once on the mission Sword Base. When you get the Target Locater and open the blast doors, you see a Transport Warthog in the distance, only to blow up before you can even get to it. It’s scripted to, every time. The two Wraiths don’t even touch it which is odd, but Bungie didn’t want us getting our hands on it loaded with Troopers and Kat. It would be too over powered.

as I stated about the falcon, they have more use than just gameplay, they would also be used extensively by the machima community

I know, I was completely on the fighting (it should be a powerful asset because of the autocannon) .

The driver is the one who is triggering the self destruct script from what I know (Warthog blowing up when I was driving away, no Wraith attack) . The other day, I found it useable behind the 2 Wraiths and I have no idea how the thing survived.

A 3/4 players game always spawns a fresh passenger Warthog in the area but it’s far from overpowered even with 3 Rocket Launchers, the Wraith is still the winner with it’s superior attack range alone and it’s available.

I can see the canvas idea working out easily. The campaign is full of different environments and other assets. All they would have to do is take Forge World and swap out the sky box and land textures and make different Forge World variants that way. If that can still be with what tools they have to work with.

This. I feel like the machinima community isn’t given much attention these days.
