Reach FF is getting really boring

Fire Fight after that patch that removed FF limited and gave us the Doubs has really lost its … touch as it was.

the games are too short and there just isnt enough enemies to kill or make it a challenge, in TOTAL there is about 100 in games like score attack and in doubs, very scary … then in arcade its ABOUT? 250 ish i think?

in most arcade and doub games, you only fight about 5 waves, 6 if you get a bonus round.

wave 1 - Grunts, wave 2 - jacks, wave 3 - brutes, wave 4 - skerms and then a mixed wave with some thing like 2 hunters,6 - 10 elites depending on game, and 4-8 grunts.

why the hell did they remove the clasic FF game?

it used to be 6 - 7 waves with the brutes and elites having the odd squad with grunts and jacks, and some times 2 hunters, then the boss round of generals or chieftans, then repeate and you face the oter bosses, if you faced elites you now fought chieftans and then the bonus round of grunts.

the old rocket attack, bonus round was elites with over shields.
sniper attack was hunters.
i cant remember if there was one that had skerms or brutes, but that was more fun IMHO.

and another thing that kind of bothers me is that only the grunts and skermishers get a game type all to them selves, if there was one, i would have been playing ones that only let you fitht brutes, elites or even hunters.

Reach FF has gotten so boring.

now i know that i could just make custom FF games and play my self, but then there is no online ability unless you invite friends, then at the risk of sounding like a stat hog or some thing, what about the challenges and comendations.

i really hope that Halo 4 has a better setup for FF asuming it has one because this, is really sad, you really only have to look for the FRG grunt or the grenades, its hard for any one to flank you because there are so few of them.

i think each wave has about … 5 - 8 or so squads, each one having about 4-5 guys in it meaning you only face 20 - 30 ish guys at a time, give me 60 - 100 per wave and let the bulits fly … or eat my dust while i run for cover.

that would have made it more fun and challenging to me.

The FF Limited playlist was removed due to its low population, if people were enjoying it or liked it, they would have been playing it, sadly, there were not.

It is always going to be in Doubles and custom Firefight for as long as Reach exists, but it coming back as a full time playlist, not likely, there is a playlist caps and with a Race playlist on the way after it was shelved a few months back, I doubt Limited will be re-added.

i used to play it 99.9% of the time and never had a problem fiding people, its population i always found to be around in the 300 - 1000 range, now that may not be A LOT but people did like it.

besides, i think the reason it had so few people in compairison is because in arcade you had unlimited ammo and lives, get the FRG, rockets or sniper and just plug away.

i would do that as it was the best way to get kills etc, but that becomes very boring too also because, too few enemy to kill, a wave vs 3-4 players might last 2 min IF that.

because FF limited is gone as a play list, i dont even really bother playing arcade and no point in doubs because its the same as score attack, i get the same number over all of kills playing score attack as in any other game type/play list of 100+ … and thats probably because ive been trying to get the assist comendation.

The main problem is FUEL ROD GUN.

Everyone always votes arcadefight and rolls with the FRG, and many times i cant even get any kills in myself because all enemies instantly melt in a green haze from my esteemed team mates. So i just sit in the corner and AFK, or better yet not play firefight anymore.

if they increased the numbers of enemy and took away unlimited ammo, problem solved … kind of.

take out ZB slayer and bring back FF limited.

some thing they could do is make a new play list called some thing like 2nd wave.

lets you play 2X the number of waves or has 2X the number of enemy spawned per wave with ONLY standard UNSC weapon loadouts.

in short 1 game of it would = 2 games of any score attack game of the same type just different, maybe limited lives with 4 players?

wow so many people wanting FF Limited back but the last time we had it the population was under 100 for around 2 months before they got rid of it.

im all for playing Ff Limited but not with the people who just run out in to the open and just die which is why i stopped playing it after a few games.

People only pick Arcade fight because they can pick up other weapons and pick up nades which is why you don’t see many people picking Rocketfight or Sniperfight.

The dumbest thing i have seen people say is to get rid of the one thing which gives us Vehicle kills and that is the drop ships.

ODST FF > Reach FF.

ODST’s was just more fun IMO. I guess it was because it was harder without AA’s and the maps for FF in ODST were just better. Not to mention when you’re with 3 other friends and 3 of you die and it comes down to one guy fighting 2 brutes with hammers. So intense and so many lolz. Reach’s FF just didn’t do that for me.

I will always miss Limited, I remember the first Hero Medal I got on wave five with Chieftains. But perhaps the reason the playlist was so low is due to the fact that it was devided into three kinds of players.

Skilled players, who played smart, saved power weapons for Hunters/Generals/Chieftains, who gave up the DMR in favor of the Drop Shield to play a more supportive role.

Noobs who thought they were invicible and ate up all your lives and raged at you when you died for the first time.

Derps who AFK, troll you by throwing grenades at you while sniping, wasing the RL and SL on Grunts and Jackals.

The biggest change from ODST was the ability to play the most cooperative mode in the game with randoms. Adding randoms to anything is doomed to having a terrible game 8/10.

If it won’t come back, please get rid of lolX2 Score Attack in Doubles and swap in Fiestafight for a suprise element. X2 should’ve stayed in Score Attack where it belongs since it probably only takes you an extra 30 seconds to kill everything.

FF limited is the master race.

I miss the real FF game type were u had to try as well. This arcade fight butchered and allows people to AFK every game. I think credits should be lowered in Arcade FF and given to the people that actually complete Limited FF. Common sense and you reward players for actually playing.

I pick Arcade so I can pick up grenades or other weapons. I use sniper for most, but I need something to take out the bouncing skirmishers, so I usually use an FRG as my backup. I don’t understand why people vote for rocket fight or FRG instead of Arcade. Are they wanting camo or something? I’m not sure about Fiesta. I hear some people want the challenge, but usually I hear people suiciding right off the bat for a different weapon.

Maybe if they limited the splash weapons, but super-stacked the bullet weapons, they might make things more interesting.

Firefight Limited is too hard for the average player. People playing arcade come into limited thinking they’re Master Chief and all the lives are gone before the first wave is up. Can’t get any credit farming in that way.

My son loves limited but he has a hard time getting people to vote for it. If he manages to get a game everyone quits. He doesn’t mind that so much because at least HE still gets to play. I’d love to be able to hang in there with him but I’m not good enough.

It’s just odd that the harder a game is, the less people play it, yet so many people HERE want the game to be hard.

Kind of the same thing with Invasion.

Maybe better maps and more juicy challenges?

they should put 2x score attack UNSC weapons in arcade fight. I would love to tear -Yoink- with an AR.

So true. Firefight must be like ODST’s to become good again.

I am so happy to find someone started this topic. I’m hoping that since Bioware/EA announced they’re adding more ending(s) to M.E. 3 because of the fans/players initiative that 343i will be more apt to listen to those of us that love Firefight. Granted, we’re a MUCH smaller group than those who play Halo strictly for multiplayer. There’s a player on Waypoint named Ultimate RC who, amongst others, has been trying to get 343i to respond on the subject of Firefight. He’s been extremely proactive in creating solutions for the problem, creating Firefight playlists own his own and refining them with community input as well as encouraging members of the community to both create their own solutions and voice themselves to 343i about our want for a challenging Firefight experience. He and others have been at this since October or November of last year when the FF Limited playlist was removed. Taking for granted the primary reason 343i gave us firefighters for removing the playlist (low player population), I can’t help but notice the co-incidental timing of the addition of the Anniversary playlist needing space at about this time. No acusation being made there, Waypoint moniters, just an observation.

The current state of firefight is further complicated by players who abuse Arcade for either credits or just to mess with the players they get paired with. Attempting to headshot anything is frustating enough when a jetpacker is raining down plasma fire on everything you’re running towards or to kill anything at all when whatever you chase after is sniped by a player who sticks back with the sniper rifle and waits to see what you’ll attack so they can cut it down before you can kill it, but what I find most frustrating are the players who do all this and then take offense when you actually manage to kill something they felt was theirs somehow and then they spend the rest of the match following you around with rockets and plasma fire shooting at you or standing directly in front of you to block your vision whislt meleeing you incessantly. For me, this happens about every half-dozen matches. The match voting is also frustrating: if you vote for limited, you are always over-voted at the last second and sometimes they still quit on you before the match. If you do the same and wait until the last second to vote for limited, they either quit on you and leave a bad player review or they waste or/and suicide all the lives away and then quit on you and leave a bad review and sometimes an ugly message. Repeatedly, we’re told things like, “If you don’t like it, then friend players to play limited matches with” and “Halo is for multiplayer, not fot fing firefight” by these players. This kind of harassment is no different than being told “If you don’t like how we behave, then make friends elsewhere and don’t come back here because your kind isn’t wanted” or “This place is for people like us, not (insert gay/racial slur and expletive here)” in the real world. It is an equivalent to cyber-bullying.

Sorry, I branched into another topic there. 343i and fellow Waypointers, please look at what Ultimate RC and others have proposed and help us Firefighters gain a place to call home again in Reach.

It sounds like they shouldnt have taken away limited or possibly bring it back then for the ODST fans. Dont try to get arcade taken away or changed because something that a very small population played. In its death throes, limited would have maybe 250-500 players at any given time while arcade was in the 1000’s+.

Arcade is just that, you get the feeling that you are playing a stand-up arcade machine, if i put quarters into it, i wouldnt be choosing a sniper rifle over a FRG or rocket launcher. Besides, I like to blow -Yoink- up. If you guys are that upset about it play score attack or sniper attack if you want to use a precision weapon, or, or get a buddy and play doubles and get limited there.

i honestly dont see the problem that everyone has with arcade, its meant to be fun times, blow stuff up. Everyone raves over ODST’s FF, i though it sucked, terribad. ODST sucked as a game, stick with a storyline and run with it, the freaking game was an expansion pack that they made into a stand-alone game, which is a shameful cash grab and an easy exit for Bungie to get away from MS.

To address this, i came up with a solution to the AFK problem long ago, infact just after the first wave of bannings. it’s very simple.

No matter what or how many points they score in the beginning of the match.

5 minutes of controller inactivity gets player the boot. AHHH, but you now will say they can rubberband their controller.

Points then would be no longer being scored, 5 minutes of no scoring gets the boot.

Repeat offenders get the ban, so many bans gets you perma banned.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me. Take a hardline and others will fall in or get left behind.
