Hey all,
I’m just curious how the reach credit cap works. Does it count all the credit you have earned each certain 24 hour period and then “reset” when the next “day” starts at a given time? if so, when does each day begin/end?
Or alternatively, is it like a system in which you have to wait a full 24 hours after each credit you earn of your 200,000 credit reserve each day (as in if I completed 50k credit in 12 hours, then another 150k in another 12 hours, then after the next 12 hours I would only be able to earn 50k credit again, but 12 hours after that I could get another 150k).
Yes, it counts all the credits you earned within a 24 hour period and I think the reset time on the eastern time zone is 11PM.
So the current day in Reach started on 4/22 11PM ET and it ends on 4/23 11PM ET and the next day starts and your credit counter resets back to 0.
The Halo Reach credit cap works in a way where you can only get a total of 200,000 credits in each individual pre defined 24 hour time period and none of the credits collected from one time period does roll over to another time period.

Great to know! thanks for the info.
If you plan it well, you can cap out just prior to the day reset and then almost immediately start earning credits again.

There are a few nights I can definitely do this and plan to. I am very excited to finally reach Inheritor this summer, its been on the checklist for far too long.

I hope you make it! It’s such a great feeling when you finally get there.
If you change the timezone to the next day you can start earning credits for that day. Not sure if it still works, but I used to to it back in the day when I was grinding. That way I was always a day ahead so I did not loose anything if I missed a day
Good luck
Hey as a follow up on this does anyone know what happens if you complete a challenge after hitting the max Cr for the day? does it get awarded the next day or is it lost forever?
I am just thinking about it because I completed the new challenge for getting a killing frenzy before the credit allowance reset (which is weird because I thought they were at the same time?), and now I am curious about the weekly challenges and what happens to the 30k credits if its achieved near the daily 200k limit.

If I’m understanding you right, from memory you only get enough xp to hit the cap and the rest of the amount is lost. For example you complete a 10k challenge but you only have space for 5k until you hit the cap, so you are awarded only 5k xp. The rest is lost and isn’t given to you when it resets, same as any xp earned from a match or commendation.

Good to know, I’ll have to plan my 50th win well then so i don’t accidentally achieve too close to the cap and miss out on that 30k jackpot.

You shouldn’t be worried about missing out from Credit Jackpots. As an example, I have recorded the Credit payouts from a total of 1857 2x Score Attack games and haven’t received a Slot Machine payout greater than 3000 cR.
Something which is interesting with the Slot Machine is that it gives a cR payout in one oút of the 3 categories.
- 150-399 cR (~75% probability) - 500-999 cR (~20% probability) - 3000 cR (~5% probability)The average payout from the Slot Machine is approximately 506 cR.

Very interesting breakdown!
Although I was actually referring to the weekly challenge which is a 30k reward for winning 50 games. The slot machine jackpots are nice when they happen, but If i did get one while hitting the cap I am losing at max 3k cr which is like a single game of score attack, no biggie especially considering how unlikely that is to happen.

The Credit payout from this challenge isn’t that impressive when you split it down over 50 games and it will only provide up to around 607 additional cR per game. For me, I have never managed to hit the cR cap by naturally playing the game as reaching the cR cap corresponds to playing around 9.5 hours of Score Attack (at the rank Reclaimer when lobby time and challenges are excluded).

Oh it’s definitely not worth grinding towards for its own reward, but I have been playing enough games legitimately throughout the week that challenges like these can just happen naturally. I just want to make sure I don’t accidentally cross that threshold on a power day that I was already at the max (not that it mattered much this week as it now looks like I will probably miss it anyways but it will be close!)
Takes me about 6-8 hours to hit max Cr doing only score attack depending heavily on comms and challenges. SA is a fun playlist (my fav actually) but also not great for XP, If like me you want to avoid doing the Grifball cheese for a couple hours a good chunk of XP can be gained from regular FF which maxes me out in about 4-5 hours (about 5k xp+ every match). Both are possible for me as I can get away with playing a lot during the 6 hours of downtime I have during my overnight shifts, and occasionally I will throw a couple GF matches when I am listening to a school lecture or something which even 2-4 matches can cut off a couple hours toward that cap.
