Reach - Credit and Rank Loss

Someone may have already posted about this, but I had trouble coming up with search terms that were specific enough for me to get answers. I recently went back to Reach’s campaign, which I haven’t done in about a year. When I first select the campaign, a message pops up telling me that I can either take my Spartan online or stay offline. Apparently, if I stay offline, Noble 6 returns to the default in game. After noticing this, I decided to go online. As a result, I lost almost all of my credits, most of my armor modifications, and went from Commander Grade 3 to Lieutenant. Keep in mind, I’ve pretty much exclusively played the campaign on Reach, so getting to that level took a long time. I can still play the game with some semblance of my character, but it killed my desire to play at the time. My rank and my modifications were a digital representation of the amount of work I put into the game, and I could either have it without seeing it or lose almost all of it. I’m not sure what this update was supposed to accomplish, but I just wanted to play the game offline like I’ve done for years, and 343/Microsoft is actively screwing that up.

This is normal behavior as you can earn Cr ‘offline’ with ways (that are very effective) you can’t otherwise.

Playing Firefight (in Firefight or Anniversary Firefight) through the matchmaking is more or less the best (legit) way to get what you lost. In that case just make sure to select Arcadefight.

2X Score/Fiesta Attack (in Score Attack) is single player and as a result, don’t last and can’t give Cr as much but one can play this at anytime if the online stuff is available.

Have you ever played with that Spartan/account online before? It’s kinda like a countermeasure for cheating that they implemented. Now don’t jump down my throat and say you I am claiming you are cheating Offline, there is a certain cR limit you can reach each day. Once you hit that limit, you can’t earn anymore cR for the rest of that day or what have you. But Online, that cR limit is higher than it is offline. It’s just a thing they did where if you’ve never played online with an account and finally do move it online, you may loose some earned cR/Ranks/Unlocks. But if you’ve already played with that account online before going offline with it, then you won’t loose anything.
