How did the comic ever fit in with the game and book, anyway?
I’m not too sure what this topic is about…
The events at Reach have (as far as I know) been covered in three different mediums:
- The Fall of Reach (book)
- Fall of Reach (comic)
- Reach (game)
The book and game take two completely different approaches to things. What about the comic? Does it recognize a Covenant occupation before August 30?
The comic is just an adaption of the book so I doubt it.
I have all the comics it follows the book not the game and makes a few short cuts to make it fit but not the type of short cuts you would get annoyed by.
I have all of the Fall of Reach Graphic Novels. Basically they are an adaptation of the Fall of Reach book, however there are some short cuts to make it fit into comic format.
The annoying thing with these is that they make no attempt to make it fit into Halo: Reach 's story at all. They have Chief on Reach with the S-II’s but there is no mention of the fact that the Covenant are attacking and have been doing so since July 2552. They keep the original story that the Covies showed up on August 30th 2552 and surprise the UNSC.
343i really should’ve made the “Definitive Editions” of the first three novels truly definitive by having the events of the Reach game mentioned. The comics would follow this pattern too.

The definitive editions of Fall of Reach and First Strike (the 2011 version of the books) do address some of the issues with Halo Reach. However, it is important to understand that the game take place in different locations than the books do.
OP: The comic is kind of an abridged version of the book. It’s a nice visual companion, but it does take some short cuts here and there. These short cuts are best disregarded.
I just got the final hardback collection of the comics (really nice btw)
They basically follow the book to a tee, and seem to make almost no reference to the events of reach the game.
Granted the game follows a completely different group of spartans, but still.

And is set in completely different locations than seen in the book.
It doesn’t matter it was a different part of the planet. They have not addressed the fact that the Covenant had been on Reach for a month+, but none of the S-II’s (except Jorge) and a majority of the fleet in orbit knew about it until the giant fleet jumped into orbit on August 30th. And then when the Autumn went to jump out system because they were badly damaged, they then returned to land on Reach.
What I don’t like about the comics is the graphical innacuracy.

What graphical inaccuracies?
