HEY, im been wondering if the Recon or Bumper Jumper control scheme in Reach is a good replacement for the default one. Recon is HALO3 so it would be a gud choice for me i guess but i heard that Bumper Jumper is the best so what do u guys think??
Use boxer, good for comboing.
i tried that but its good for melee attacks and yeah i rarely do melees but gud suggestion though
All personal preference, honestly.
Bumper Jumper + Claw > All.
Between Recon, Default, and Bumper Jumper I would have to say that Default offers the best button layout. Bumper Jumper would be good, but having Equipment on the X button makes it impossible to use AAs like Jetpack and Armor Lock. Recon really has nothing to offer in terms of advantages over Default. You can reload while looking around, but what good does that do you? Default allows you to melee while keeping your hand on the joystick and makes tricky maneuvering in melee battles much easier. I just made the switch 3 days ago and I’ve found that it’s easier to ninja people.

A lot of people like Recon because it’s basically the Halo 3 default layout so they’re already familiar with it.
I personally don’t like any of the ones mentioned here so far though.
Default is objectively the best overall layout since you access the greatest number of important functions simultaneously and can do so with comfort (lol claw!)
That is why I use it.
I used to use Bumper Jumper because the above was true for it in Halo 3 - not so in Reach.
Buy a Razer Onza if you’re serious about gaming. I bought it and I can use both recon and bumperjumper at the same time because it has two extra programmable buttons. It really is a good buy if you want to raise your kd a little bit.

I’ve had two of them stop functioning on me. Also, I found that when they were working, they would miss shots (i.e., not fire) if I tried to shoot a sequence of shots from the DMR or Magnum too fast.

BJ’s pretty bad for Jetpack and AL, yeah. All of the other abilities are either “cast” or “toggle” abilities, though, so players that aren’t JP- or AL-oriented won’t miss much with them on X. :\
I hear that Bumper Jumper is good for highly competitive play, since you can easily jump and avoid bullets. But I just don’t feel like learning a completely new control scheme, so I use Default. I used to use Recon, but I like Default better.
Pros used to claw but now that Bumper Jumper is around alot have switched to that, while still clawing here and there. Otherwise Recon claw would be nice if you can play well doin it. Kampy still claws;) Kampy also plays with his triggers switched as well, because back during Halo 2 it was easier to double shot, etc with it switched.

Exactly why I haven’t made the “jump”.
See what I did there? O.o

Yah, that was the one thing that kinda sucked when I made the transition from default to Bumper Jumper. Now, I only use Sprint, so I don’t have to worry about holding for JP or AL, although it does mean that it gets really hard to play on Uncaged because everyone else is using JP.
The transition to BJ was pretty smooth and it just took a little bit of time to get used to. For a while I was still pressing “A” to jump and then remembered to press “LB”. I find it a lot easier to play using BJ now though.
