I looked a bit at the halo infinite mk v[b] armor comparing the fidelity to the armor in the customization menu for MCC and some of the helmets that came back in Halo 5. I’m angry and worried this point is not being heard. Its bad enough were having to pay for the reach battle pass to get to some of the armor, its worse that half of it is going to be locked to the shop. But what is even more dirty and worrying is if were probably going to have to pay over $100 to have access to all the reused MCC reach assets that have only been slightly touched up I’ve already payed/played for twice over before this. Generally looks like only the materials may have been reworked for these armor coatings and the resolution of the textures raised/ cleaned up but they likely had the raw high poly mesh to re-project normal maps and re generate ambient occlusion textures if they need to, which is a relatively automatic process in most 3D software if they didn’t have high resolution version already for those textures. AKA the same 3D models.
To people acting like this is has all been fine with the limited free stuff we got, ITS ALL BEEN FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! There was supposed to be a plethora of free options to unlock to “Express your ideal spartan Day 1” showing off all the returning reach stuff in the promotions. That was partly misleading and generally, a flat out lie, but salting the wound of locking my reach armor setup again behind this battle pass pay/progression wall is bad enough compounded by the plethora of ridiculous shop bundles there are going to be for these likely reused assets. I also saw defenses for all this/ concerns about the work to rig these being an excuse for it. They are STATIC SOLID ARMOR PIECES. Position it right, pick a bone and give it 100% weight, done. They really gotta make this shop for 1. properly new content like they have been dropping in mcc, and 2. Coatings that add actual textures or reorganization of colors not just the basic color schemes and the occasional extra metallic bit.
In summary, STOP RESELLING OLD STUFF AND GIVE US THE REUSED ARMOR SOME PEOPLE PAYD FOR 3-4 TIMES OVER ACROSS THIS SERIES. Myself included. Drop this dumb reach pilot bundle you added to the shop today and backfill the first battle pass with the reach stuff even if its part of the premium. They’ve already taken it too far with that. Personally it’s like they are extorting something I have nostalgia for and then immediately taking it hostage after I payed them for it.
