Reach armour vs Halo 4 armour

Imo, I prefer the Reach Spartan armour.
In terms of the overall appearance, the armour covers most of the body and looks nice, as for when I’m viewing my Halo 4 armour my Spartan just looks weird and I see less armour and more padding. The Reach armour is way more aesthetically pleasing, the 4 armour just looks…ugh.

Thoughts?

Same boat with a similar mindset. When I read the books about the Spartan II’s and III’s, I always figured that their armor would look more military in order to fit the universe like Reach does. You can put on what seems to be more plating, ammo pouches, medical kits, wrist data pads, even some mesh for the chest when being stealthy. There are hardly any helmets in Reach that looks like it couldn’t have a purpose outside of looking cool (Gungnir being the only exception I can think of). Halo 4’s just seems like it is trying to appeal more towards visuals instead of actual usefulness. For example, look at the Wetwork, Engineer, and Pioneer Helmets: How can anyone realistically look through the visors of those things and see clearly? Also, the armor doesn’t look like it could stand up to much fire after the shields fail. I guess you could argue that the less bulky armor allows them to move faster so there’s that.

I prefer the Halo Reach armor. It looks extremely realistic and battle-worn like Spartan armor should. Halo 4 armor is all shiny and new, I dont like that, also the Halo 4 armor looks weird and unrealistic but thats just me…

I prefer the Reach Armor.

Nothing beats reach’s armory… especially not halo 4’s
Those 2 are a perfect example for quality over quantity

Gotta join everyone else here; Reach had the better armory. Halo 4 armor all looked the same to me and IMO it looked very UGLY. I couldn’t find a helmet I really liked, since I normally pick ODST, so instead I just stuck with the default.

As for the body, I don’t really care.

the armor in halo reach is better, armor in halo 4 every Spartan looks like some funky space ship but its still a decent game.

I think some of the armour in Reach is better, such as the ODST armour (which is my favourite) is far better in Reach than in 4, but in general I like the concept of 4’s armour better, being able to have a pattern on it etc.

A simple example of how much better reach’s armour was than h4’s is
EVA

 vs Orbital
 \/ \/
Epic vs a cheap imitator
or
Scout vs Scout
\/ \/
military vs unicorns

I agree completely! The Reach armor is just more attractive and I believe can make one person stand out over another where as in Halo 4 everyone looks the same, In Reach you can mix and match armor and look cool but in Halo 4 you just look stupid if mix and match. I enjoy reach more.

In halo 4 the only way I can tell a difference in someone’s armour is the helmet the body looks the same on everyone

I agree, Halo 4 will use some armors twice but change then color.

Halo 4 armor looks took hexlike

Reach armor is great and the armory is amazing

I think that it would be cool if you could choose the color of each individual armor piece but then it might look to rainbow or overwhelming

scout halo 4

I like them both. I like Reach’s textures but Halo 4’s Spartan physique (they’re tall and lean, not gears-of-war beefcakes).

Halo 4’s Mark V was absolutely perfect. Reach’s was cool looking, but it was way off.

Most of Halo 4’s armor was pretty unappealing to me, but the ones it got right were very cool.

It’s hard to say which one for sure …

Reach obviously is better since Halo 4 made all the armor look like plastic which bugged me a lot since the designs are supposed to be the same.

After I read the description for the Ricochet armor, where it said about the “battle-infused sports”, I looked at the Halo 4 armor as more of a flashy thing for sporting events that would be on TV in like 2852. In my opinion, though, Reach’s graphic are far better, and I love all the little chips and scratches that make it look real, instead of the shiny and perfect armor in 4 that looks like it’s made of resin. Although, I am a fan of FOTUS and Deadeye.

Reach armor was distinct, I could tell the armor combinations of someone from across the map(exaggeration), 4… Not so much.

I am in complete agreement with everyone, the Reach armory was superior to the Halo 4 armory. A lot of the Halo 4 armory was “similar.” Each Reach armor was fairly distinct.
