Reach and SWAT Love - and Thank You!

I have some questions and also want to share some of my thoughts on Reach.

Reach is my favorite game and I have played it since launch; love the campaign and especially love SWAT and never looked back on October 5th, 2010. My wife and I have played it together as well as with my brother off and on over the years, even after having children. My oldest son now plays SWAT :slight_smile:

Thank you for bringing this game to the MCC. It looks so beautiful and it is playable again without the lag (still some) and general nonsense on the 360. The SWAT players are incredibly skilled and it has really helped to elevate my skills to the best I have ever played. Halo 5 has good SWAT, but the BR changes things by being able to spam the head. And since you can’t play with guests (WTF?), Reach is where it’s at! I have found new joy in the DLC maps that I used to be annoyed to play, and I think it’s because they show up more often allowing more opportunity to get to know them and practice them. I love the modern controls options! I have been able to fine-tune my controls with the deadzones and now play on 10 sensitivity across the board with 6% deadzones. (This is probably a big factor in getting better at SWAT recently)

General Notes:

*Please bring back Penance to SWAT…just as we got used to it, it was removed. Good choice on removing Solitary - good hell that was awful
*Wish SWAT was ranked…would love to know how I stack up!
*Best maps: Sword Base, Boardwalk, Countdown, Reflection, Uncaged (The Cage :slight_smile: ), Pinnacle
*Good maps: Asylum, Powerhouse, Zealot
*Decent maps: Unanchored, Battle Canyon
*Bad maps: High Noon, Uplink - Can’t stand them!
*Bring back Temple
*Bring back the game performance rating (1629, 1200, etc.)

Questions:

  1. Why does it take so long to enter a new service tag/ID for a guest? Clicking on it takes forever for the keyboard to show up. General annoyance.
  2. Why can’t other players in the party look at the previous game’s stats while in lobby? When I play with my brother and I am party leader, he can’t look at stats until the new search starts, and with how fast matches happen now, that’s not much time to review if any.
  3. Why are the top medals not actually top medals? I got a few killtaculars in SWAT (obviously proud of that) and it never showed up as a top medal. Furthermore, the only way to “browse medals” for guests is to browse your own and then cycle to guest medals.
  4. Why can’t guests use mics? Super annoying when we play online with my brother.
  5. Wouldn’t it be great if you could change your controls in-game without causing all players to be forced into the pause?

Fun Stories:

My wife went up the lift in countdown from the bottom and happen to enter at the exact same time as an enemy player. The enemy’s face took up her entire screen and they were just staring at each other while going up the lift, like the butterfly buzzing on spongebob (look it up :). The player killed her and she just lost it in laughter and could not participate the rest of the night due to laughing. We went to record it and an hour and a half of games were missing from the recent games list…so we couldn’t save it nor watch it from her perspective. :frowning: (wouldn’t it be great if you could go into the theater with other players signed in and view games together, like the good ol’ days?)

My wife and I had an epic comeback on boardwalk. We started getting torn up and she asked what the score was. 44-36 and I said we could pull it off but has to be NOW. Teammate got one kill, she and I combined for 13 and won 50-49. I have the video for this one and the coolest part is the victory shot. I jumped down from the far back of the map and was shot and hid behind the little block asking for help. I thought I saw someone near trees as I fell and decided to go for it. Jumped out and got the head shot JUST BEFORE getting shot by two people. The game was THAT close!

Down 49-48 on Asylum, got a double kill for the win - same night as when the 1.5 hours of recent games were gone so couldn’t save.

Down on reflection then tied 48-48. At single lift exit, found two players down near the globe. Did a jump shot and popped them both before I landed. Have the video for that one.

Anyway, I love this game and I love the intense competition! Some of you all are freaking good. Just wanted to get on here an share some thoughts! No one talks anymore :frowning:
