Reach AAs: Armor Lock

This is a place for you to post tips on how to use armor lock.
All I can think of us to go in and come out randomly, dont wait until it runs out.
I know some members use it like bosses and have developed it to a point of immense skill. Help us out

When a vehical comes, immediately use it. Don’t think twice. If it’s a ghost or wraith, it will explode. Any others and it’ll fly right over you.

When a grenade or multiple grenades stick you, use it, the will bounce off and head somewhere else. When in a tight room (ie: Big camp room in sword base), you can throw a grenade, and use armor lock while inside to take out an opponent.

If you are threatened by death from an opponent, use it to keep him from getting the kill, and to keep you alive longer. If he’s stupid enough to run up and hit you while you’re in it, then by all means, pop out, break his shields with the blast armor lock used, and punch him straight in the face.

When threatened by death via grenade or rocket, use it to stop the explosion.

When on anniversary maps, don’t use it. It is useless, plasma grenades kill you while you’re in it, people can shoot it down to nothing, etc. etc.

When two opponents engage in an armor lock battle (The duo go into armor lock next to eachother) it’s like a game of chicken. You must be the last one to go into armor lock, and then when he releases his armor lock, you release yours and take out his shields that way, then go in for the kill!

This is coming from somebody who actually learned how to use armor lock rather than complain about it.

Also: When facing an opponent who has armor lock, do not run up to him and hit him or run near him. Keep your distance and wait for him to release it.

Thank you for your time.

Also if you can time the Armor Lock (when going against an AL user) throw a grenade to explode as soon as he comes out, if he was hurt when he went in then he dies. If not then its a one shot kill.

Yes, that is very true. I’ve never tried that tactic though.

This is a trick of my own creation and I have never seen anyone else use it or fell victim to it myself.

Trick one.
I call it a “Lift trap”.

Simply locate yourself at the top of a lift, being careful not to allow your opponents to know you are there, wait for them to enter the lift and stand directly in front of the lift, about halfway between where they come out and where they will land. Initiate AL, allowing enough time for an EMP to be delivered (time varies depending on whether it is TU or default) release upon arrival, pop the shield and melee for the finish.

For multiple opponents I recommend the above process for the first and a nade, AL ,melee/pistol for the second, whatever range is developed in the scuffle between the second opponent will determine if it requires melee or firearm to finish the second.

I have employed this tactic many many times and it has shown to be very very effective.

Trick two has no name, but is more of an observation.

I have a better hit percentage when backing away from opponents versus going towards them when coming out of AL, this goes for my gun and sticky nade hits. I thought it was a figment of my imagination, but I kept track on paper for a short amount of time and according to my findings I had about a 16% increase in connection between the two.

If you use armor lock like a Beast then you will look like that
