Dear 343 Industries….it’s time we had a talk. I recently watched your video about Halo 5 multiplayer and yeah it looks decent. But you guys need to see the bigger picture and this is where I hope to explain myself.
Halo 4 was a flop. Halo 3 was a success. Halo 4 was a flop because it wasn’t halo. It’s a game that creates a social environment, it’s a game that shows our dearly loved hero flying, sprinting, locking armor and having load outs and drops. Put simply you made an unskilled game, your following form your acting like COD your creating a game that’s easy for anyone to play. That’s not okay. Why follow? Why create a social game? Why not go back to your grass roots and think simple. Think what master chief can really do? Human in a suit with a shield. Keep it simple. Create a competitive environment. I want to go into games and fight with people, I want to see people clinging onto their rank and defending it and fighting for a higher spot, I want to see a game where skill shows, a game that’s simple. Halo 1, 2 and 3 kept it simple and made it perfect, they took so much time to develop a game and think about the end user. In the end I think people are shifting bring back RANKING. Sink money into pro competitions get people behind your brand, make esports, create high profile players. Make halo 5 the game people want to be the very best at. Look at League of Legands a game with a really really really simple concept that is by far the most competitive game on the market. LOOK AT THE GAME. LOOK AT THE RANKING SYSTEM! GO AND TALK WITH THEM! AND ASK QUESTIONS! Please for the halo fans, go back in time, go simple and make halo 5 great. Prove to people that this company rightfully owns halo and understands the online community. Again! Keep it simple. STOP adding so much crap in online games. Hope this kinda helps, sorry about master chief collection being average, do more testing on your game take time and test. AND KEEP THE MENU SIMPLE! PLEASE! MAKE IT FLOW!
you are not entitled to anything. If you want Halo 2 gameplay guess what you now have it. Nobody wants the same game every year and iam glad they keep taking risks. I hated Halo 3 and Reach to be honest, but its great knowing there are 5 halos out there each with their own style.
From the beta footage I’ve seen, Halo 5 is more ‘Halo’ than Halo Reach or Halo 4 were. 343 tried to fix Reach when they took over, but Halo 4 was def a misstep. But what I’ve seen of Halo 5 restored my faith in them. Of course, after MCC, I think I’ll wait until after release to make sure the game actually works.

Amen to that. The beta footage gave me the impression that Halo 5 is the result of Halo 2 and Halo 4 having a baby. Only thing that makes me nervous is the Spartan Abilities, but I’ll wait to get my hands on them and see how they actually play before I start screaming about them.
I’m ok with changes that add skill, but they seem to have taken away certain skill gaps. Making jumps is definitely going to be easier with the ability to grab ledges. The other ability also take away from the game by eliminating strafing. I down for some change but not Change the game in ways that take away from the core. Also people saying sprint doesn’t change much think about how they have to change the small maps to accommodate it. Midship is stretched out making it bigger and look it seems small when players can run straight base to base.
Last time I checked, 343 are gunning for a fast paced, Next Generation Arena focused multiplayer.
So far, It seems they are succeeding with this.
Arena games aren’t exactly, ‘Casual’. Especially when they are fast paced. So I don’t see how they are continuing down the same route as Halo 4.
Why should 343 rethink Halo 5 when it’s what they are going for? Didn’t we want a more Arena focused Halo game? Isn’t that what we all wanted after Reach and 4? And now we have it, We are telling them it’s not what we wanted?
Halo 5 is going to be Halo 5. Let it be the Fast Paced Arena shooter. Goodness knows how much we have needed on for those recently.

I admire the positivity from some people in these forums but this happened with Halo 4 as well. Community outcry at how Halo was being perverted. People piling up to support 343 with useless catchphrases like ‘give it a chance’, ‘let Halo evolve’, then we have a commercially-successful launch but within 90 days the game dies, something noone has seen in Halo before.
So I don’t think halo 5 will be a flop in terms of a first week sales however it is clear that we’re going through the same pattern -
devs release preview;
community have several concerns (note of course that these concerns have now been voiced for years and are still going unheeded);
several members of the community put on their 343i warrior hats and defend 343i without question, masking the true issues;
game releases successfully, $100mil+ marketing campaign did the job;
community continue to voice concerns but they once again go unheeded;
90days + - matchmaking servers are a ghost town;
This time fortunately we have the beta to enable our concerns to go unheeded even further (343i will not lose face AGAIN and remove any spartan abilities or any other core features following the beta - in fact I’ll guarantee that the reason we see spartan abilities/sprint today is that senior 343i devs didn’t want to lose face and admit that they should never have been here in the first place) but we also have two major obstacles:
MCC
Xbox 1 price
which will ensure that (refer to points 2 and 5 in the first list) once the community goes ignored the matchmaking will die between 1-90 days.
But hey, 343 will have their money from launch and single player I’m sure will still be fine.

you’re not alone dude, i think the same way. but were a dying species.
adding sprint and ADS to Halo is a way too major change to the core of halo-gaming.
it’s the same case like removing sprint and ADS from CoD.
the people would be running riot, the game would die immediately.
I agree completely. If people want a sci-fi arcade FPS you have a bunch to choose from already, theres COD AW, TItanfall, Blops2, and DICE’s new Star Wars Battlefront coming out soon.
