The problem is when you add enough joke cosmetics or ones that purposefully don’t fit, the game itself starts to become a joke visually. That said things like purrfect audio are implemented about as well as you could hope for, it’s just that after the reclaimer art style debacle I’d rather them hold off on the divergent stuff.

I was struggling to find the santa hat at first, i thought it was a glitch why it wasnt appearing for me as it’s not mentioned anywhere that it works on only 2 helmets. I didnt think that at first.

I just want a toggle for “joke” items. There aren’t many, and they are obvious, so a toggle like MCC has should be easy enough. If MCC can retrofit it into an even older game, there should be no technical reason their custom engine can’t do it.
I don’t want my cat ears silenced. They’re part of my expression and folks should, quite frankly, have to deal with that.

MCC isn’t a free to play game, and I believe they only did the toggle for the games that introduce new elements to games that didn’t have them originally. For some reason, I highly doubt they’ll consider such an option for Halo Infinite personally. More so with how small most of those silly cosmetics are.
I kind of want to get the Teddy Bear cosmetic for my Spartans Chest. I want to put some character on my Spartan has a strong sense of protecting those around him. A strong belief that no one should ever be left behind.
The bear would actually contribute to that look greatly.

Yet even these things don’t really mess up the art of Halo. Not really. They’re more like “inside jokes” or gags.
Hayabusa, as you said, was made in collaboration with Ninja Gaiden. So Bungie is straight up saying that this isn’t canon and is reference to another series entirely.
As for the flaming head, flaming heads/skulls have always been a part of Halo. It is the symbol of the ODST, the most notable group after Spartans and the oddball is sometimes represented has a flaming head. I feel that was just bungie thinking that flames are cool and skulls are cool, so why not combine both.
And Emile? He wears a totally canon EVA helmet. If he wants to stare through a motorcycle visor that’s been scraped against the pavement, that’s his choice. It’s like what Jorge said, he made some “additions”. It is strange that Noble 6 can wear it, but it would’ve been lame if we couldn’t.
Even the confetti is just a gag from the Grunt Bday Party skull.
Ultimately, the problem with the cat ears is the price tag. 343 is asking players to pay $10 to make the game look ridiculous.

I personally don’t see what the major issue is, besides people wanting Spartans to look like generic BMX pilot astronaut dudes covered in mud and scratches. If someone wants to be a pink glowing Spartan covered in the most awful cosmetics money can buy, then target them. They want to be seen. Same if I use stink cloud, storm cloud, flaming head, or anything that makes me a bright and obvious target, basically shouting “I WANT TO BE SEEN! I PAID MONEY TO BE SEEN!” I chose that path, and I put a target on my head. I glow white and blue. If I get killed a lot more because of it, so be it.
If you get beaten by a guy dressed like a neon animal circus, you can’t claim you didn’t see them. If I wanted to, I could wear all black and hide in corners, but people that wear bright cosmetics want the action to come to them, so give them the action they deserve. Don’t like them? Wreck them. Over and over. They’re easy to identify. If anything, the more unique a Spartan is, the easier it is to find them again.
Does it ruin the immersion? Eh. As long as FOTUS is around, and we have Fracture timelines, Spartans will only look goofier over time. Halo stopped being Halo the second 343 monetized colors
I think this hat was leaked for last Xmas but was delayed. It wouldn’t have been so bad released back then but now we have so many cores it feels really limiting only being able to use it on two helmets on MK VII.
I’ve mained the same exact HCS Launch Armor Coating with gold trim since last year when i unlocked it from Twitch. Havent changed since. No other modifications on it at all. I just wanted this Santa hat to be festive. lol.
I have my enemy outlines set to yellow. It doesn’t really matter what colour the their armour is, I’m going to see them.
On the reverse side though, I’ve been using the gold armour coating (I’d prefer a decent yellow because I like the colour), and more than once I’ve had enemies completely ignore me (sometimes walk right through me) because they’ve had their team outlines set to yellow.

The Santa hat is awesome although I would have liked a bad Santa version too.

So you can do what you want and other people should just have to accept that but if other people want to do something you can’t accept that.
Seems hypocritical.

It’s definitely disappointing that the Santa hat doesn’t fit more helmets but I accept that it would have taken more work for what is a free cosmetic.
The fact that you can test fit cosmetics in the store to helmets and armour that the my can not be used with is straight up false advertising and should be fixed ASAP. Pretty sure you could bring a lawsuit against them and win quite easily in Australia at least. Wouldn’t be worth the time and money but it would make them take notice.
I’m not the one trying to silence anyone’s identity. Guarantee you, if people got this toggle? They’d start lobbying for political things being included too because it “Doesn’t belong in Halo.”
Silence someone’s identity?! I’m sorry but let’s be real here, it’s a game, 343i chose to add silly cosmetics and people are free to use them and have every right to enjoy them.
If 343i choose to add a toggle that lets people preserve a more serious, canon accurate tone and art style, then people should absolutely be allowed to enjoy that as well. No one who doesn’t feel the same way will be affected.
To put it in perspective, is my identity being silenced because I like to wear baseball caps and I can’t in the game?
How about if they added an option that made each team of Spartans more visually distinguishable for people with some sort of vision impairment but at the same time it overrides most cosmetics. Would that be silencing your identity or freedom of expression?
