Yes, I know they were exploits in H2. Let’s just forget H2 ever had those exploits and look at the idea of button combos on their own merits.
Pretty much every genre other than shooters has button combos in some or all of their games. Fighters, action adventure, RPGs. What’s the main difference between the combat in really boring button mashers and the beautiful amazing combat of games like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta? Combo combos.
This could be a really innovative idea that could appeal to core Halo fans and the masses who are looking for something fresh from Halo.
My take would be that anything which adds complexity to the control scheme is a bad thing. That’s just me. When they say, “Keep it simple, stupid,” I’m the stupid guy they’re talking about. If it was up to me, there wouldn’t even be alternate button layouts.

Your well thought out rebuttal has left us all with much to ponder.

So, youre not for spartan abilities I take it?
I feel it would introduce too many variables and wreck that halo feel. As Recon pointed out it adds an unnecessary complexity.

Well they were already there in h2 and it certainly did not ruin the halo feel.

Made it feel like halo 2 me. Also the fps I’m making has combos because combos kick -Yoink-

BXB? That’s quite different than “Jump plus LT and RB = Faster, further nade toss” imo.
I just don’t think stuff like that is appropriate for Halo. I suppose it could work in Halo 4 with all the other useless crap they shoehorned into it, but Halo 5 is very stripped down by comparison and adding button combos so people can hadoken grenades across the map seems to undermine the spirit of the game.
So you’re saying that 343 should purposely add glitches to the game. Mmkay.
Seriously though, I don’t think it would be a good idea. For one, the controller is already saturated due to SA’s, and there’s also the fact that if they are included on purpose, they’ll have to be publicised, as otherwise new players will think the game is full of hackers/cheaters (which is true, in a way). And if they are publicised, then everybody will be doing it. Which will not be a good thing.

It was just an example lol. I tried to stay away from h2’s specically because then it usually turns into complaints about exploits.

How is it a glitch if its intentionally in the game lol.
Thats like calling every move in street fighter a glitch. Or active reload in gears a glitch.
Cmon dude. Thats just silly.

Even though it is intentional, it functions in the same way. The combo you suggested is kind of like sprint 'nade in H4. Although I probably could have worded it better.
Really miss the nade-reload glitch from Halo Ce that let you do both simultaneously.
BXB and B-nade-B were alright I guess, don’t really care either way.
I’ve never used BXR or QuadShot, but I assume that’s something that could be made more intuitive by simply requiring you to precisely time when you tap the trigger, sort of like a double-tap in real life. Instead of having like three buttons required to pull it off…

Alternate button layouts are good. I HATE the default Halo 5 layout, for example, as B to thrust and LT to zoom is not right to me. Also, I can never get used to X to reload in Halo. I always use Recon, and having that taken away from me would be one of the few things that would legitimately make me consider leaving Halo.

I love my AAs, but when they’re gone in 5 that’s just fine with me. Matter of fact, in the interest of simplicity I would also gladly do away with ground pound, clamber, charge, and thruster. Sprint I really don’t care about one way or the other.

Wow. That’s pretty extreme.
My beloved Boxer control scheme is being taken away from me, but I’ll manage.

I too do not use the default - it’s terrible. But I’d gladly figure out how to make it work if it meant that I never again had to take it in the shorts from some bumper jumper try hard.

No, not in any way lol.

That would make it too easy though and there would be no penalty for failing.
