Why not have the traditional Gamertags above the heads of allies and enemies like it CoD and Splitgate etc? I think it’s a fair compromise between those who want the traditional Red v Blue and the people who want the outlines.
I hope they at least add the tags. I dont understand why they cant have both RvB and outlines so everyones happy… ¯_(ツ)_/¯
And another topic about the outlines. “Positive feedback”, yeah right. Hope 343 is listening this time.

We must remember that these forums and Twitter doesn’t represent all gamers. We tend to forget that.

I sure hope every halo fan isn’t on these forums… It has been a while since we’ve seen a population counter in the games…

I just think when we make these takes we need to be more mindful. They sent out a feedback e-mail and that is most likely what they are judging the information off.

I don’t know why this is the hill you’ve chosen to die on. It’s already been shared with you in multiple threads how:
- Forums are just one of the places to get feedback, surveys and other mediums are often used to collect feedback.
- Confirmation bias makes it so thinks we agree with stand out more than those that appose our viewpoint/opinion.
- People are more likely to actively post something they don’t like than something they do. There is not a doubt in my mind that there is a majority that like the outline changes or are impartial to it that just don’t post about it.
343 listens to and cares about fan feedback, you only need to look as far as the radar changes for an example.
Its all in the name of player expression even though those silly shaders will be impossible to see with the highlights

Outlines are good. Gamer tags over the players would be good as well. Maybe they’ll add that Option. As for the people that want RvB… the door is right there…
I think this is a great idea.

I think it was a bug, it will be fixed at launch.
> Sandbox team response.
> A common note was to have player’s Gamertag’s appear above their head when looking at them. We completely agree and can confirm that names weren’t showing up due to a bug. A few of you noticed that we had an option to display Gamertag or Service Tag in game, but it just wasn’t working in this build. This fix may or may not make it into our next flight, but it will be in for launch.
I want it as obvious as possible who’s on my team and who isn’t. My brain reacts to colours faster than anything else. The problem with the outline system is that there are a bunch of colours in there to react to, so it takes half a second longer to think than it would if the whole enemy was 1 colour.
It’s not that a gamer-tag above them wouldn’t help, because it probably would. But it wouldn’t be enough for me. I’m gonna keep begging for team colours back.
That is probably the best approach, paired with removing the ability to watch teammates through walls just like it was in the other Halo titles. However, to be honest I was always keener on the Halo 2 Classic system, which showed the player’s emblem, allowing more customization. A possible combination could be to have both the emblem and the player’s tag as you suggest.

Whatever people need I’m with, customisation is the best. I prefer the service tags myself as easier to call stuff out. If it is an option I’ll 100% be turning off teammate outlines in favour of service tags above head.

KevinKoolx did a poll on YouTube yesterday which asked do you like the Halo Infinite outline system?
There are 6.7k votes, with 63% being yes.
I had trouble with noticing the outlines in the technical preview, I hope there are more options than what was available during the preview such as showing gamertags or thicker outlines.

…which is not overwhelmingly positive. That is near controversial area.

Ah okay, I think it is best we end our discussion now.

Keep in mind, normal people don’t follow halo you tubers. So for only 37% of the Halo community that follows you tubers to dislike coatings and 63% like them. I’d say that’s pretty solid (considering the divided community anyways)
if a higher majority of halo players like it, imagine what the new or casual gamers are gonna think. “Hey this is cool, I get to show off my cosmetics and colors”. The armor and colors look great. Then 343i will continue to expand and add more options surrounding outlines. Also GT and Service Tags are option-able to appear above people making identifying even easier. this wasn’t present due to a bug. But I think before we can fully judge the Friend/Foe system. We should experience all of it.
my 1 complaint is to have an option to reduce/turn off outlines bc of the flare it gives off. Fix that and it’s perfect to me
I hope they add the tags for friendly players. Its been in just about every Halo game I can remember. I also hope they add an option to remove the outlines if the tags are present.
