Rate the maps

These maps are great. I’ve just played each one now, and I’m surprised by them. I was hoping for smaller maps, but these play very fun.

Harvest- Pretty fast, you can run and cap a flag quite fast on foot. Symetrical. Straight to the point.

Wreckage- played KOTH. Was awesome. Lighting is beautiful. Can’t wait to learn all the secret routes.

Shatter- Played Slayer. Fun. Huge. I fell down into a cave by accident. I love fighting all the ghosts. Going to be sweet once I can orient myself. I like the close quarters battles in the buildings too.

I give 9/10, for medium-big size maps.

Any numerical ratings with reasoning?

Agreed, they’re very objective friendly as advertised. To my surprise I even found myself enjoying a king of the hill game on Harvest. Team slayer was of course very entertaining as well.

Wrecked has offered a few incredible oddball matches so far. It has just the right orientation for quick movement with some interesting sight lines if you stand in the right place. I wouldn’t try to drive a vehicle around in it however.

Shatter surprised me the most. I initially thought it was too big but then I had some very intense team slayer games on it, and that’s just 6v6. I’m looking forward to having some big team battles on there.

I give them a 9/10. Play well, and are just beautiful. The mantises on shatter work quite well, and extraction is extremely fun. Wreckage has to be my favorite map. With the multiple ridges and hogs, it is a blast. A bit of a glare problem at times, but still great. Harvest is fun, and great for objective. I was pleased with this map pack, and can’t wait for the next.

My only fear, is that Shattered gets voted on to much. I hope I get more Harvest and Wreckage time. :stuck_out_tongue:

Great to see other people enjoying them too.

If we get these to appear in other matchmaking playlists in addition to some smaller 4v4 forge made maps… Whew, I’ll be one happy duck.

Yeah I agree completely. They may be a little too big, but they sure do require some strategy for a quality win. My first game on Wreckage was intense, everybody was attempting to control of the middle and the chaos was non-stop.

Me and a couple of teammates actually used some strategic plan on Harvest to win a game of CTF. The hog battles were a blast, BR and DMR battles were all even in the majority parts of the map. The map has good CQB and open field battles and plays superbly.

Same for Shatter, kind of reminds me of Water Works from Halo 2. Texture, color, and scenery are awesome. And as always has a good variety of CQB and open field battles which keep the fun going.

Overall these maps are awesome, I love them. The only complaint I have toward them is that they all consist of some Nature in them, the symmetrical aspect is lacking, and 2/3rds are pointed torward the BTB category. Hopefully the next map pack will consist of environments related to The Pit in Halo 3 where the competitive people can work with. And maps that are symmetrical! Don’t get me wrong but symmetrical maps are rare to find in Halo 4, they seriously need to add some more symmetrical maps to this game.

But good job Certain Affinity, I think those are the people who make the maps. If not good job… Who ever made them.

I LOVED the maps!
They give that Halo 3 BTB feel! You actually have to do Teamwork on them. Yes, I want some Arena maps, but that doesn’t mean that these maps are just the best Halo 4 maps so far (To me).

The Only thing I didn’t like was that on Wreckage, there are to many Kill Boxes, but at least those Boxes remove a lot of Camping spots.

I thought of Waterworks too. That blue cavern tint does it. Hopefully good memories will be made on Shatter as they were on WW.

I’ve only played harvest so far (a cheeky game of CTF before work this morning), and i really like it. I really can’t wait to get home and rip them up!

Maps are great! 9/10 overall. Love the center structure in Wreckage so much! And Warthog owns on Harvest as well as Wreckage. Shattered is great, even for KOTH. I’m having a blast.

I agree with the highlighted, I don’t enjoy larger maps nearly as much as small ones, but any variety is good IMO

Harvest-8/10
Harvest came off as a good sized human map to me, allowing for both infantry and vehicle engagements. When in monitor mode, though, the boundaries are extremely restrictive.

Wreckage-5/10
Mediocre at best. It’s too much of a jumbled mess for a Halo map in my opinion. It’s supposed to be a larger map, but the shrapnel makes it look smaller when playing on it. Driving vehicles is also difficult to do.

Not so sure about Shatter. I’m thinking 7-8/10.

I think they did this all wrong.

We have 5 small/medium maps, and 5 large maps at launch. The 5 large maps are only good for Big Team and Dominion (possibly extraction). With this, most of the play is on the 5 small/medium maps. Complex sucks for 4 vs. 4, and the other 4 maps get old really fast (even though I like them all).

343 should have at least had 2 of the forge maps (not the erosion one, as that level is completely unfair for one of the teams). This would have made it 6 small/medium, and 6 big team. Then with this map pack, they should have added 1 small, 1 medium (harvest fits here - good for 4 vs 4 and even 5 vs. 5 ctf), and 1 large for big team/dominion. Instead, we got Harvest and 2 large maps.

Love harvest. The other 2 are terrible and I won’t enjoy them I don’t believe until we get some big team going in them.
