I sifted around a bit, and didn’t find anything like this, so I thought I’d give it a shot to see if anyone is interested. Basically I put a map up for rating and everyone rates it on a scale of 1 (Bad) to 10 (Awesome), then I compound the ratings and we see which maps are the most popular around here. With the release of Halo 4, I’ve been thinking a lot about the maps of the Halo franchise, so I’m curious which ones the community likes the most. Feel free to explain to your heart’s content as to justify your rating, though it’s not necessary.
First up to be rated: Blood Gulch from Halo: Combat Evolved
While Blood Gulch is undoubtedly the most popular map in the series’ history, it doesn’t make for a balanced experience. At this point, I don’t know exactly what the appeal is on this map anymore. First and foremost, you’re essentially useless without a sniper rifle or a vehicle. I suppose people enjoy the mad Warthog rush for the flag, while the others enjoy spawn-sniping the other team into oblivion. But these things do not make for a varied map that best represents what Halo is capable of. A fun map, no doubt, but not worthy of the exorbitant esteem it has attracted over the years. Blood Gulch’s design has been featured in every Halo game, if you are of the mind that considers Valhalla a modified Blood Gulch. I’ve simply grown tired of its concept over the years. It no longer has the same appeal it did during middle school all-nighters. 7 out of 10 from me.
This is to compound fan ratings of every single Halo map as a sort of weekly event and constantly updating thread. I have several of these running on my forum (not Halo), I don’t see why you are so up in arms. If the moderators want to move it there then they will, but it says right in the rules for the Polling Booth that you are only allowed to make so many polls. This would not work in that manifestation.
Thank you for mini-modding as opposed to, you know, actually participating. That’s very conducive to forum life and hospitality.
Calm down. I was suggesting a poll since all the numbers would be right there, and I didn’t know if you were just using one thread, or multiple ones for each map.

And what’s stopping you from having a master thread that you post the links to each poll.
Or better yet, find a website that’s dedicated to polls, and use that.
I am calm. Where have I emanated anything else? You are the ones driving this thread off-topic as opposed to either participating, or leaving it be should you not care enough to participate. Telling me that the topic should be somewhere will do little to move it, let a moderator know if it is that important to you. Otherwise, please stay on-topic.

2.) This website is dedicated to Halo and the official hub for Halo fans, why would I not do this here?
3.) Stay on topic please. Your moaning to me about how my thread should be somewhere else is doing little to actually move it. I have no power on that subject, and unless a moderator tells me it is better off in some other iteration, I’m leaving the matter be.

Ok… Are you trying to find the favorite map of all of them? Or do you want to know the average rating of each map?

And does the rules say you can’t use a dedicated poll site to host your polls and post them here? I don’t think so. The only rules about posting links to other sites is that said sites are within the code of conduct. Also, these are forums dedicated to Halo discussion.

Also from what I can gather, you’re trying to do a survey, and I found a nice free site called SurveyMonky.com and I’m currently making a survey just for you, that has all of the maps Halo CE to 4, PC and Xbox.

Guys outside of OP - The OP has clarified that the purpose of this thread is for worded responses AND numbers since the polling booth options to modify polling votes is not available at this time and the rules prohibit multiple threads. If you still think he is in violation of the rules, click the report button and leave it at that. Beyond that, weird stealth, I’ve got a boatload of respect for you, but you really need to stop acting like your younger then you are with that last response to #3. The numbers for voting is 1 to 10. 1 being terrible, 10 being awesome. If you can’t respect that fact, then don’t make the flame bait post.
OP - The opinions and helpful advice on these forums is allowed. While going off-topic is prohibited, the responses so far are trying to help you. We are on the internet, which is why it got misinterpreted, but stop trying to think of reasons to stop talking about this and have a more open mind about the forum users. They are simply suggestions coming from multiple members of this community.
Everyone - Choose your wording more carefully. The fact is, helpful suggestions being confused for trolling is due, in large part, to your inability to word things until its crystal clear what your trying to say and how you mean it to be interpreted. I don’t care if you have to flat out say, “In all seriousness”, “No joke”, “Completely humor intended”, etc., just say it, then if its still misinterpreted, you can say, “Well, I said that for a reason…”
On topic: Blood gulch was a fun filled experience for me, but as you’ve pointed out, the balancing of it was not designed efficiently. Because of that, I’ll give Blood gulch a 6 out of 10.

It features a different map (or what have you) week-to-week to continue to generate interest in whatever the thread / game is about. The maps are then ordered on highest culminate to lowest culminate in running fashion. Yes, I want to know what people’s favorite maps are, but I want a deeper mean score for fan perception of all the maps. Doing it another way is over-complicating something that has been around on forums for ages.
You say you are only trying to help, yet it is clear that I’ve read the rules for the sub-forums. I administrate a forum of my own, so I don’t necessarily need your help with that. In administrating my own forum, I also know the value (or lack thereof) of mini-modding as opposed to just contacting a moderator. It’s a moderators job to teach me the ropes of a forum if I am completely misguided. Telling me to post in the Polling Booth or make a survey does not aid me, because this is a specific type of forum game, and I’m not interested in those other avenues. If this doesn’t belong here, then it won’t belong here.

And don’t assume anything about me, I’ve done a few forum games, I wasn’t born yesterday. And here I thought you was trying to do a survey like thing. Shame on me for not reading your mind, heavens forbid I mess up and misunderstand what you was trying to do. I guess no one is allowed to mess up and misunderstand you on your forums.
But hey since you’re compairing forum know how, I’ve been a moderator on forums for 6+ years, I know what forum games are.
But since this is a forum game, and you clearly expect me to do things your way.
Blood Gulch
A map that I’ve played off and on for 8 long years, in Halo PC’s Demo, Halo PC, Halo Custom Edition, and the remakes throughout the Halo series. It was a great map for about 10 matches back when I played the demo, which only had one MP map, and then after a year of playing that map, I knew every single crack was, I knew the map inside and out, it is dull and boring, even if the map was remade to scale and an exact replica of the original, but with updated graphics to that of the Cry engine’s current level, it’d still look dull and boring. The spawns was crap, and unfair, spawn campaign was easy, and can be done at any location of the map, banshee made defence a pain.
Over all, the map is scored a 1 out of ten because of the many flaws and lack of color and cover.
