I’m sorry. I’ve been holding this in since the game has come out and I just have to let it out. I bet there’s a lot of forum posts like this… but… HEY! LET’S PUT IT OUT THERE, MAN.
First of all, I’d like give thanks and praise 343 for taking care of the universe we all know and love and for making a fantastic game. I can’t wait for what they’re going to do with the rest of the series.
But the game… it isn’t exactly perfect - no game is. But in my mind, there are a few things 343 should fix in Halo 4 so that, in my opinion, Halo 4 would be perfect.

Lack of customizability (is that a word?) in Flood. I’ve been longing to play some fun Infection (or now that’s it called Flood) game modes. I love the flood model on the spartan and the claw and all but… Why? Why would they completely derp the game mode? No more Fatman, Trash Compacter, etc! Annnd… that thruster pack on the Flood is annoying too. Also, why can’t we be able to drop the Flag? Options, options, options, please! Please give us options to make a load of fun gametypes! What is Halo without Custom Games?

Now that I mentioned the thruster pack, what’s up with the thruster pack in normal games? It moves you like… 3 feet. COME ON! I understand not making it OP and all that, but dude… It barely does anything on normal gametypes. Also, why does the Jetpack run out of juice so fast?
-
Where’s the beef?! Normal Slayer? Juggernaut? VIP? Race? Invasion? Territories? Assault? Headhunter? I realize some of these were removed in previous Halos. But why remove gametypes? The more gametypes, the better, right? It keeps the game refreshed and different. As I said earlier, what is Halo without Custom Games?
-
Matchmaking. Oh man… So, Extraction; it’s in the game… but why isn’t it in matchmaking? Why isn’t Grifball in matchmaking? Why was Team Snipers removed? I like the idea of rotating playlists, but we need the core playlists in before everything else. It’s been almost a month since the game has been out, I understand 343 is busy, but matchmaking, in my opinion, is lacking.
-
Maps: I’ve been playing the same maps, over, and over, and OVER. There’s 3 forge maps, and I haven’t seen them once in matchmaking. There’s even maps in the forge maps that are all ready put in the game, but not in matchmaking? WHAT?!
-
Some vehicles are killed way too easily by normal loadout weapons. I understand the vehicles should be damaged/destroyed by normal weapons, but not so easily that you get in a Banshee for 30 seconds and you’re already plummeting to your death with the destroyed parts of the vehicle you drove/flew in on a few seconds ago.

I love Spartan Op and I love the side story in the cutscenes. But some missions just feel like boring “bang, bang, shoot’em up” or just go “push this and push that.” I don’t know how 343 does this weekly-based episodic campaign, but I wish they would add more interaction into some missions. Also, the repetitive use of the maps gets real boring fast. Are they putting too much time into cutscenes so the missions, and possibly the other aspects of the game, are lacking?
-
What happened to the Falcon? The Hornet? Even the Revenant and Spectre? We’ve ALWAYS had the Banshee, I think it’s time for something to counter it and for something the UNSC could use. And since Halo 4 seems to be used on Reach’s engine, is it possible to add in the Falcon? (that might go the same for bringing in the gametypes from Reach, too)

Guns, guns, guns. There’s quite a few of them in Halo 4, which is great! But, what happened to the Grenade launcher? The Sticky launcher? SMG? Focus rifle/Sentinal beam? Needle rifle? I just don’t see the point of removing guns. Having a lot of guns makes the game so plentiful. Also, why is the BR 5 shots to kill (technically 15 bullets, if all land on the enemy) and the DMR is 5 too? That practically makes the DMR more powerful than the BR because 1. The DMR has a farther scope distance and 2. The DMR only has ONE bullet to land to make the same damage as 3 bullets for the BR, and 3. The DMR fires at a slightly faster rate than the BR, usually making it better even at CQC against the BR, which wouldn’t make sense, since the BR has a smaller scope distance. Is there a way to make the BR like the Halo 3 version (4-shot), but still keep it balanced w/ everything else? Also, why can’t the Storm rifle be cooled down manually by holding X, like with the Plasma repeater in Reach?

Why are the Forge pallets so small? Is there a possibility to get a Forge world or even Forge world 2.0 in a map pack? What about Sandbox, Sandtrap or even Foundry as new Forge pallets? I feel like the barriers around the map keep the Forge maps too confined to certain spaces. Also, another problem is the grid makes people other than the person holding it lag. And why can’t you zoom in with the monitor and have an option to use the d-pad to do precision editing like what was in Reach?
Phew. Alrighty… There are my gripes and groans. I’m sorry for it being so dreadfully long, I just wanted to get this out there. I don’t know if 343 has a bulletin stating these problems or what. But I just wish, oh man, do I wish, that they would fix the problems I stated and the problems anyone else is having to make the game better, and even make this the best Halo experience up to now. 343 has done a fantastic job, they’re just lacking in some areas. I hope they read this or other posts similar to this so they use this criticism to improve the game.
Again, I appreciate anyone who read this and reply if you agree or disagree with anything, and feel free to discuss it with me or others. We are a community, anyways!
Thanks once more!
