So I finished my ranked placement matches and was put into platinum 1 since then I’ve lost more matches than I’ve won and now I’m platinum 5?
The whole point of a ranking structure is to have bragging rights because you are good at the game, not because you can grind it out.
There should be a penalty for loosing matches where your rank decreases, this will balance the matchmaking as at the moment someone who is diamond might only be a bronze level player with a lot of time on their hands
There is. I’ve noticed if I do well even if I lose, I don’t really derank. I’ve seen others derank for bad play even while winning.
If you are a good player and you have good performance, why should they punish you for losing a game? It’s not all about winning or losing, but how well we play as individual players. I see the current system perfect.

There’s something fishy going on with how 343 has implemented MMR and CSR. I am still wondering if the system is functioning as follows:
- Quickly determine a player’s skill (MMR) through some sort of black magic voodoo
- Place a player in a CSR division well below where his MMR will settle
- Let the player feel like they’re getting better / progressing their rank until they “plateau” at the point where their CSR and MMR align.
Just a theory, could be wrong. But something’s up with the ranking system for sure.
