The ranking system is fine as it is… you want to win games to rank up? Invite good players to your fireteam…
is it really that hard OP?
team games need to encourage team playing style… You wanna go and get positive k/d and not helpout your poorer team mates, you dont deserve to rank up… if you have a bad player, help them out! thats the point of TEAM matches… imagine swat ranking was based on k/d? it would be a total camp fest, it would practically kill any fun in that playlist…
I admit, i carry alot of players sometimes, but i know i played well anyways so who cares i lost some ranking? if theres nothing you can do about it, dont go crying…
end of the day, we are all in the same boat, good players have to carry bad ones sometimes, it may give you a loss, but changing ranking system to suit your particular needs may not be the best idea… i bet theres 1000’s of good players that would technically be better than you if ranking was k/d based, so in reality, you may have a better rank with w/l based as it is now, then if stat was k/d based.
just play FFA? thats a true test of your k/d, and you dont need to rely on anyone…

> Well, if you go 5-15 in slayer you put the team -10 in the hole…if you have another player that’s 2-12, that’s another 12 in the hole…down 22 total…they are almost half way through the match because half the team is getting dominated. That’s making the other 2 on your team go 25-10, and 23-10 to pull out and win the game…how many times do you get put on a team where you have 2 randoms that go 20+ kills…yeah
> KD is not important in every game mode, but in slayer, breakout, and swat it’s everything. The more you die the more you lose, the more you kill the more you win. basing the rank on strictly w/l in theory works, but in practice…i dont know. you need to be held for some accountability for your individual actions.
>
> Usually the people that say KDR isnt important are the people with low KDRs. Play objective game types and I would agree that KDR doesnt matter, but when youre playing to 50…KDR is all the matters
haha i have found my self in this position many times… i go 23-25 kills 3-10 deaths… and the rest of the team 2-15 4-10 and so on and so on…
I just recently played FFA for the first time a couple nights ago. I always put it off cause I felt like I wasn’t nearly good enough and that I’d get my -Yoink- handed to me. Well I the first FFA I ever played and I’m enjoying it a lot more knowing I don’t have to deal with idiots for team mates. Arena is still fun, but unless I have a team I only play slayer and FFA.
Ranking has always been based on wins ever since Halo 2, I think personal performance played a small role but its always been that way and now people are complaining about it.

> this is something ive been hating sense halo 5 came out. id always be pared up with a bunch of people that just got the game and we’d end up losing, causing me to lose my rank. thanks, 343! (seriously tho, this needs to be balanced out a little better, other than this its a really fun game)
completely agreed and who have people who left and you finish the game with 2 or sometimes alone

Let’s compare Tim Duncan to Kobe Bryant on who the “better player” is. Kobe is the selfish money hoarder who wins here and there however no one wants to play with him because he isn’t a team player. He’d rather get the glory for himself rather than dish out a few more assists. Tim Duncan on the other hand gives up millions and makes the extra pass to get a better shot even tho he already has a good shot. Players don’t run away from Duncan as he isn’t a selfish player trying to worry about his own game where as kibe wants to do whatever he can through his own body. Both are winners, however one is more attractive than the other to be around.
No idea if that anology works, hopefully people at least see what I mean. Point is in halo people would rather play with a player who isn’t all k/d but more about winning. You’ve a 2.0 k/d you say? Oh, must’ve played vs people worse than you, you’ve a 70% win rate? Must mean you’re a team player at least. Here’s the thing about k/d tho when its all said and done. If the games matchmaking actually matched us all up skill based wise, you should have a 1.0 or slightly below and above. Anything above a 1.5 is a false k/d.
Selfish play= you rather worry about your stats than get the W. Matter of fact I heard a guy in my team complain how bad the team was playing in a warzone game, called everyone pathetic and sat in the corner of a map saying “I’m not sacrificing my k/d for this -Yoink-”. That’s selfish play.

> Recently, it’s been very infuriating for me to play and try and achieve the rank I’d like to reach in Arena playlists. The fact that you MUST win in order to gain an increase to your rank has nothing to do with your own personal skill level and performance in game. If by any chance you get stuck with players who simply aren’t good in a match, you’re the one who suffers from the loss and a rank decrease because your teammates couldn’t pull their own weight while you’re the highest scoring playing in the game. I honestly believe that players should be given the opportunity to rank up based on their performance in game. Suffering rank decreases from loss due to teammates who suck seriously shouldn’t have anything to do with your personal rank. Communication is key yes, but 90% of the time, NO ONE speaks a word to aid each other.
>
> 343i should seriously consider changing the system. I know it’s how the old styles of Halo used the system, but for a hardcore competitive player such as myself, it’s infuriating if you’re the best scorer on the team, lose and have a rank removed from your stats.
I agree, my KD is positive but my win ratio is low. tbh I hate this system in basically every halo game. My opinion.
I agree with Nystic. Ranking for arena has to be based on winning or losing. If you want to win youre going to have to do more than get a couple headshots. you’ll have to find a team and learn to work as a team as well.

> if you don’t have a good team, you will never improve your ranking. Imaging now that you play very well but you keep losing each time. It’s kinda unfair
> The ranking system should be change plzzzzzzzz Mr 343 industry
its a team game… find a team if you want that rank.
The ranks are f*cked. They need to be based on w/l and performance. Also unranked players should only be matched with other unranked players. Every time I get on I’m just matched with unranked players way better than me even though my friends and I are all average ranks.
