Very much agree. It is really hard to tune though because you will always have players boosting.

I think the win loss is the right idea but maybe if your on the losing team the player that ranks the highest in score doesn’t go down. That way if you have a team full of muppets you just make sure your the best muppet and give it your all.
I agree with you it’s should be about how hard you try not much you can win.
not happy with the current ranking system.
Truth be told, anyone who wants performance based doesn’t remember Arena from Reach.

Do you have a source on this?
It’s a hard one to call. I agree with you but like most things you’re never going to be able to keep everyone happy. So I think it would be better to keep things as they are. I often get stuck with bad players in Arena or Warzone and no matter how good I do or how hard I try to pull things back together our team will still end up losing beacuse of their silly mistakes. I’m not saying I’m the “cream of the crop”. But seeing as it is a “team” type game, you should be marked/rewarded based on your teams performance overall not singular performances. It’s something they should look at anyway. Maybe for the next game. Very rarely do match making development teams “hit the nail on the head” so to speak when it comes to a fully functional ranking system. But for now it’ll have to do.

> K/D should be important. Halo 2 and 3 had the most difficult and unforgiving ranking systems and they sold the most copies of any Halo. That was back when the developer would announce the number of copies sold and not do what Microsoft is doing by announcing it in a dollar amount using legendary bundles and Halo Xbox’s to beef up the numbers to make it look like the best selling Halo. Anyway, How am I supposed to develop as a player of all I have to do is team up with a couple of ringers that are garunteed to win the match for me most of the time? This system puts people I don’t even know, unless I’m playing with friends, in control of my rank. That’s ridiculous. I would rather be wrecked over and over by a better player than have a horrible player lose a game for me and screw with my rank. I know winning matters. It always has. All previous Halos weighed win/loss fairly heavily. But at least an amazing performance could practically negate a loss. This is stupid on 343’s part. I have not had one match after I ranked that was fairly matched by the true skill of the player. Most of the time I feel like I’m playing noobs. The rest of the time I’m the one that feels like a noob. The ranking system does not work this way. It’s extremely unbalanced. It was broken in the beta too. I have more competitive matches in Warzone. I bet that’s it! They screwed up the ranking system to make you play more Warzone where there is a pay to play system. After all, Warzone is the only thing making them money in multiplayer.
This. My exact thoughts are this.
Yes and No you should have a performance level (skill rank) and an expierance rank
No, they shouldn’t, SPECIFIC playlists should be performance based, and we have that, it’s fine the way it is.
Ew, no, keep it W/L. K/D is toxic, makes people play selfishly during objective games.
Thanks guys for really messing up my rank, I have had so -Yoink!- games where I was the lead killer over all and I have still lost rank. This is so damn stupid, you have to have a good fire team in order to even rank up. Start going off players performance. Oh and thanks for banning me when I quit just because I am he lead killer and my team is a piece of -Yoink-. It makes no sense the way you set this up. You all had it perfect in halo 2 and now you can’t even play multiplayer on the same Xbox. That’s -Yoink-, that’s the reason halo became so damn great and everyone loved it. Now you have to each have an Xbox to play. What if someone comes over and wants to play with you. Too damn bad you should have brought your own Xbox and tv to play with me. That’s -Yoinked!- up, you all have really messed up a great series. And I have followed it since the beginning. You all have really lost my support. I don’t know if I will even get another halo after this one now.
I would prefer game wins and performance to factor into rank
The Platinum ranks are a total joke right now. It’s a literal crap shoot if you get a competent team or a bunch of folks trying to get into a rank. You get rounds with diamond 1, 3 plat 1’s and a ranker, against 4 rankers and 1 plat 1 player.
It’s seriously a joke. No certainly no “MLG Pro, get rekt” type. But I’m in the middle of a seesaw. 1 win, 1 lose, 1 win, 1 lose.
How do they expect us to get any sort of enjoyment when you can roll a dice and get better odds of determining if you’ve got any sort of skilled team? I just picked up a Xbox 1 after PC gaming for 10+ years. So my friends list is Zero, nada, zilt. So I’m not gonna be able to find a full group to que with.
This point I’m almost finished with Arena’s completely, sorry joke of a progression system.
yes they ranking system is a littlie messed up since lets say you did good and you are a diamond 1 but you lose 5 games I mean it would just go down I think it should just start at bronze and then you work way up like how the experience mode is

I’m fine with ranking into a league then progressing from that point.
But they need to get the match making correct. No reason a Diamond 1 should be fighting a Gold 1 or a none ranked play. That’s just insane considering Diamond is just below Onyx.
NO NO NO NO
Halo is about the TEAM. All you’re encouraging is people playing for their own k/d instead of playing the objective or helping their team out.

I’m all for “team” don’t mix that up. But when your matchmaker can’t group players of similar skill levels together why bother making a system at all?
Why should I get placed into a team that’s nearly all Diamonds or top Plat players? Why should I get placed with all Gold 1’s VS a team of all Plat 6’s?
The system is exceptionally flawed. And unless you manage to que as a full group with mates you know are just as skilled, you are literally just asking to never progress with any reliability.
May as well roll a dice and call the results before you even finish the game, as it’s likely more reliable.
I agree…you shouldn’t be penalized if you play well and your team loses!
