Ranks should be based on performance

The should have the rank we have now and old rank you should be able to choose one you prefer and of you choose old one the losses should not effect you.

You lose a certain amount of points for deaths, betrayals, suicides, etc. The game calculates the total point value at the end of your game and based off that is how it’s determined if you rank up or down. Simple and fair for everyone.

If there is an equation for this to work. I would be on board 100% I don’t see flaws to this system.

I get where you are comming from, but not having rank being based on wins would promote camping and discourage others from playin as a team.

K/D should be important. Halo 2 and 3 had the most difficult and unforgiving ranking systems and they sold the most copies of any Halo. That was back when the developer would announce the number of copies sold and not do what Microsoft is doing by announcing it in a dollar amount using legendary bundles and Halo Xbox’s to beef up the numbers to make it look like the best selling Halo. Anyway, How am I supposed to develop as a player of all I have to do is team up with a couple of ringers that are garunteed to win the match for me most of the time? This system puts people I don’t even know, unless I’m playing with friends, in control of my rank. That’s ridiculous. I would rather be wrecked over and over by a better player than have a horrible player lose a game for me and screw with my rank. I know winning matters. It always has. All previous Halos weighed win/loss fairly heavily. But at least an amazing performance could practically negate a loss. This is stupid on 343’s part. I have not had one match after I ranked that was fairly matched by the true skill of the player. Most of the time I feel like I’m playing noobs. The rest of the time I’m the one that feels like a noob. The ranking system does not work this way. It’s extremely unbalanced. It was broken in the beta too. I have more competitive matches in Warzone. I bet that’s it! They screwed up the ranking system to make you play more Warzone where there is a pay to play system. After all, Warzone is the only thing making them money in multiplayer.

> Basing CSR on w/l is a terrible idea. Should be based on k/d or at least a mix of both. As it stands now it’s a terrible indication of skill.

no it isn’t
if it was based on k/d you’d get every one camping in objective based games just going for kills and ignoring the objective.

ranking on w/l is how it should be.

Dude I’m so angry right now I literally just searched this on google. The matchmaking is -Yoinking!- -Yoink-. Check my last game… I had 29 kills, 9 deaths, the team opposed to me had three people AND WE STILL -Yoinking!- LOST. This is not an isolated occurrence either. I get paired with the biggest people on the planet somehow and I cannot progress in rank. My skill level is way above platinum grade but I can’t move up if I’m getting matched with the biggest noobs of all -Yoinking!- time.

If anybody else wants to pair up with me send me a friend request with a message saying the purpose. I can’t match up with randoms right now or I"m going to go insane!

i never won a match in FFA yet ranked diamond

go figure

> Recently, it’s been very infuriating for me to play and try and achieve the rank I’d like to reach in Arena playlists. The fact that you MUST win in order to gain an increase to your rank has nothing to do with your own personal skill level and performance in game. If by any chance you get stuck with players who simply aren’t good in a match, you’re the one who suffers from the loss and a rank decrease because your teammates couldn’t pull their own weight while you’re the highest scoring playing in the game. I honestly believe that players should be given the opportunity to rank up based on their performance in game. Suffering rank decreases from loss due to teammates who suck seriously shouldn’t have anything to do with your personal rank. Communication is key yes, but 90% of the time, NO ONE speaks a word to aid each other.
>
> 343i should seriously consider changing the system. I know it’s how the old styles of Halo used the system, but for a hardcore competitive player such as myself, it’s infuriating if you’re the best scorer on the team, lose and have a rank removed from your stats.

I agree with everything, but what I would do is make it to where if you lose you don’t decrease in ranking. There are some problems with this ranking system as it is, but I think that having it to where even if you lose your rank stays the same. That way you aren’t being completely screwed for having bad teammates and losing, it would just take longer to rank up.

Win - rank up
Lose - rank stays the same.

You would never decrease in rank. (except quitting, if you quit enough you can decrease in rank).

Also, who TF goes to the halo waypoint forums JUST to bash Halo. Are you really that bored? Or are the games you that you are claiming to be SO MUCH BETTER than Halo, not good enough to keep you preoccupied? Just sayin…

I know many of you believe that reaking up should be based solely on performance is another factor that affected greatly. What if your commanding officer simply doesn’t like you?

Nah just remove rank and play with who ever is online. Ranking system means little, just shows how much time you put into it.

No. It should only be based on W/L, nothing more.
You win or lose as a team. Maybe you only went positive because your team made that possible for you.

I always try to win but half of time I get crappy teammates. My w/l ratio will prove this

I think the ranking system is how it should be. The point on competition it to win. You can Lebron James all you want, but if you can’t help a team to victory then you don’t move up. The goal isn’t for everyone to move up to the highest rank, the goal is to put you in a place where you win 50% of your games. Everyone can’t be Onyx, so if you truly SHOULD be there, you will win enough to be there, regardless of randoms. The other team has the same issues with randoms, but still pull out a victory, so they deserve to move up.

Same thing happens to me

Not exactly chief. Right now there are good players in gold, and bad players in diamond or onyx just because of the crappy match ups. I see it all too much as i have been playing daily since the games release.

Yep :frowning:

so? imagine your an mlg player. if you lose itz going on your record, i like having this for arena ( can you do it for warzone 343i?) so it gives you another challenge. Da Ferrit.

PLEASE READ!!! AND KEEP IN MIND PEOPLE. ONCE YOU GET TO THE REALLY IMPORTANT RANKS LIKE ONYX AND CHAMPION, EVERYTHING IS MEASERED BY PERSONAL PERFORMANCE. ITS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS AS SOME OF YOU CLEARLY DON’T KNOW. I mentioned this in a previous forum but apparently nobody got the point or bothered to care. The point of the new rank system is to play 10 matches and develop a general idea of where u r at . Then go from there .believe me i understand its a bit wrong but look at this my first 10 matches free 4 all.i ranked 1 in over 5 of my games and finished top3 every other match only 2 being three and 1 game where i let a friend play that didnt go that well and only got platinum even though ihad over a 2.4 kd by the end and got platinum .a game where EVERYTHING is individual based.do u really want it to be like that . I say more than half change thier mind. I think it should go back to halo2 ranking if anything at all. Even if u lost as long as u did well u wouldnt lose as much xp as your not so good team, mates. Honestly i dont mind the ranking system, y because im gonna enjoy myself always playing halo just like i did over a decade ago when i got my first xbox. Enjoy the game and worry and gripe about actual flaws in the game. Every halo is different and diversity just like real life makes everything better. Halo 5 is different id recommend trying to get used to it. I dont see this as something 343I is going to or wants to change, they did it this way for a reason. So you work together.

Being able to level up in the ranks now is much harder than it has ever been, having to rely on whether or not you are match with a team of equal skill to that you are opposing. The ranking system is now based on how much you are winning, which in my opinion is a very unfair way of deciding your individual rank. It is not guaranteed that every match is going to have evenly skilled teams, you may get blown out or blow out the other team because either your team was of low skill or their was. If you are constantly being matched with a team that continues to lose matches is rage inducing because you know that your rank is going down, even though you were the top scorer of both teams. This is just a sample of why ranking should be based on individual scoring not the winning record of the team that you are randomly matched with.

Good point, you gotta respect assists.
