I don’t understand why it’s not both. To be ranked on just one or the other is ridiculous.
I believe that there should be a point system, you get a certain amount of points for wins, kills, assists, and medals (medals point value would be based off the level of difficultly in achieving said medal). You lose a certain amount of points for deaths, betrayals, suicides, etc. The game calculates the total point value at the end of your game and based off that is how it’s determined if you rank up or down. Simple and fair for everyone.
For slayer only, I do think some individual performance should be factored in.

If the game looking at individual kills and such then those things are going to be farmed, and then integrity of games where winning is the overall goal will be compromised.

A metric based on individual score and kdr (and other stuff) could be useful in ADDITION to the win/loss derived rank. This rating would be calculated based on the most current games… maybe going back 30 or so games so that a slump or learning curve don’t forever bog down what might otherwise be a great score.
The logic, it hurts because it is so beautiful. Am I really on waypoint?

objective game types should be w/l slayer should be KDR
It’s gonna get worse. Without unranked matches, people like me, that suck, will be forced on you, and bring your stats down even farther. Eventually, I will receive a bronze rank and play with other bronzes, but until then…it just sucks.

> Recently, it’s been very infuriating for me to play and try and achieve the rank I’d like to reach in Arena playlists. The fact that you MUST win in order to gain an increase to your rank has nothing to do with your own personal skill level and performance in game. If by any chance you get stuck with players who simply aren’t good in a match, you’re the one who suffers from the loss and a rank decrease because your teammates couldn’t pull their own weight while you’re the highest scoring playing in the game. I honestly believe that players should be given the opportunity to rank up based on their performance in game. Suffering rank decreases from loss due to teammates who suck seriously shouldn’t have anything to do with your personal rank. Communication is key yes, but 90% of the time, NO ONE speaks a word to aid each other.

No team sport or game has ever been about one player doing good to determine the end result. How do you base performance? Kill death ratio only tells how good you are at getting kills before you die, that is only one aspect of the game. In objectives you could theoretically win without killing a single person. Also calling out and setting up for your team is huge for winning, but there is now way to judge that statistically in the game. Good players will win more, and have a higher rank, and yes one player can make a huge impact on a game, and if it’s so frustrating just start getting good people together and go in with a team. Win loss ratio is the best way to determine your rank, if you go in alone and hate relying on teammates go into free for all
I agree. People are rank 40 and I can beat them easily. Your rank just depends on how much you play and you keep getting xp each game.

you actually get matched with similar skill levels even before you finish you 10 promotional games

Actually you have to win, your level increases with xp, but not your rank. If you can maintain a higher than 50% W/L ration though you will be able to push higher
If you are playing a team based playlist then you have to get a good team to roll with, otherwise of course you are going to get trounced and stuck with n00bs like myself.

I agree with this OP, I feel your pain. Too many times have I gone into matches where I’m usually positive 2-3 K/D and I lose because of my team consisting of idiots. And to top it all off, I GET DERANKED BECAUSE THEY’RE TOO INCOMPETENT… and YES! 90% of the time I go into a match and nobody has a freakin mic. Like, damn!

Yes it can be frustrating but Win Loss is the best way to go. As for not having mics your enemy team is probably in the same boat 90% of the time and honestly the chance you have the bad teammates is the same as the enemy teams chance. So if you are going in solo you will probably be around 50% W/L if you stay even K/d every game, a little higher if you have a positive K/D
I don’t like the rankings system do it like reach
Only objective games should be ranked by win/loss. Slayer CSR should be ranked by stats.
Play FFA. Then you truly will be ranked based on KDR.

> First 10 Games - Unranked.
> After 10th Game - Ranked based on INDIVIDUAL SKILL. You could lose 9 games and still be plat, because of your INDIVIDUAL SKILL.
> Anything after being Ranked:
> DIRECTION (CSR GOING UP OR DOWN) is based on WIN or LOSS
> DISTANCE (CSR GOING UP OR DOWN BY 5 OR 10, for example) is based on Individual KDA.
W\l shouldn’t determine the direction. It should also be an factor like, if you win, you get - 8 points. But because you did great personally, you get +10 points and still end up with a slight raise. Individual performance shouldn’t rely soley in kda. Depending on game mode, flag assists, point captures and such should also be weighted in.
It’s basically like League of Legends, and the best way to rank up is with a team.
You should also be able to rank down, I am in a rank where I can’t keep up yet. In halo 3 I was able to get better over time and ending up with a 48 level skill rank in slayer. Right now I am stuck playing Warzone but I don’t want to play that exclusively.

Same thing right here. My dad (yes my dad plays Halo 5 Guardians) is Diamond 1 and he is really bad at the game. While I’m Platinum 3 and struggling to rank up but still can’t because of my retarded -Yoink- teammates. 343 should put up a waaaaayyy more strict banhammer than they have right now. They should take an example at CSGO’s competitive, you leave a game. You got a chance, or to rejoin and finish the competitive game. Or abandon the match and receive a cooldown. 343i should do the same thing for Halo 5 Guardians. Too many people leave matches in a Halo 5 Guardians and it annoys the heck outta me.
