Personally, the solution to this would be a “Lone Wolf” setting in matchmaking. That way, when people play with randoms, their individual performance matters more. When they are part of a party, the W/L would then matter more.

more, the game shouldnt pit teams of solo players against parties of 3 or 4.
I agree with the W/L I would much rather win than be the best/mvp of a losing team.

Listen to this man! He has the right idea!

The fact that you MUST win in order to gain an increase to your rank has nothing to do with your own personal skill level and performance in game. If by any chance you get stuck with players who simply aren’t good in a match, you’re the one who suffers from the loss and a rank decrease because your teammates couldn’t pull their own weight while you’re the highest scoring playing in the game. I honestly believe that players should be given the opportunity to rank up based on their performance in game. Suffering rank decreases from loss due to teammates who suck seriously shouldn’t have anything to do with your personal rank. Communication is key yes, but 90% of the time, NO ONE speaks a word to aid each other.

Well said!

I agree, but too many bad teammates lowering my skill level. Or even in Warzone I keep get placed on Mexican teams, no offence to Mexican players but I’m Canadian and Spanish is a very rare language out here, so it’s really difficult to try communicate with you guys. Love you guys, just I’d rather be facing against you on the field.
It should stay win/loss ratio. What really needs to be done is to separate solo queue and premade queue ranks and matching.
I agree I am one of the best seat players in the us but unfortunately thanks to my teammates usually I always lose if ranks were based off of performance individually I would be a lot better off.
I agree if you don’t have a team arena is basicly a lottery
I agree
REMEMBER HALO 3??? stop complaining
I agree, the win loss only for ranking is horrible. It need to be a mix like 40% W/L and 60% Performance based, min.
I mean, just get some friends… then you wont have the issue of having a bad team.

This is why the whiners about their “skill” level - which it isn’t a personal skill ranking - is working as perfectly as it should. The whole point of it is that if you are playing solo and are a good player, but aren’t SO good that you can’t absorb 2-3 bad players on your team to beat even a mediocre party of 4, then that’s why you are playing against mediocre parties of 4. So, yes, either make the commitment and get a team, even just of one other player, or deal with being a lower “skill” level. It’s about making the games competitive, not about having players feel good about what their personal rank is and playing the game accordingly to pad their stats or whatever necessary to improve their personal skill mark.

the issue isnt that they arent important, but that individual performance varies not just in quality, but in focus.
one player might be extremely good at supporting others, callouts, timing of weapons, predicting enemy movement etc, and not hve the highest kdr or score or medal count.
an evaluation based on individual performance will have difficulty giving this type of player his due.
the second issue stems from the fact that this team game is being played as a one-player experience. its not cynical or wrong to expect players to form teams on their own in order to do well. matchmaking can facilitiate this. groups of solo players should be matched with only groups of solo players, or at most one double-team + two solo players. this puts the emphasis on solo skill through the win loss system.
perhaps losses can be mitigated by performance. i think players should have a visible combat rating based on average scores over recent games that is seperate from rank and not used for matching.
It should definitely be both win/lose and performance. Although kd shouldn’t affect. Then people would try to play to have a good kd instead of going after the flag or capping a point in warzone
So to be more skilled you need to have a fire team, right? Yeah it’s silly, I’ve not got enough friends at the moment to play arena it seems. The ones I do have are too good or bad compared to me.
Feels like it’s all KD… So why drag that flag a few winning meters under certain death circumstances?.. Nah
Social warzone… Three maps… Yawn. Might grind some more warzone later. Meh, shall see
I really hope forges customs save it for me.
NO, I find it really stupid to have KDR be a factor in determining how well you do. Halo was always more objective based then kill based. I would not rely purely on KDR to determine your skill level. But of course have it as a factor. It would not make much sense for someone to play king of the hill and just run around and capture points and become Onyx. So main point, have many different factors to determine your skill level, don’t base it “purely” on one specific statistic.
