Ranks in MCC

I had an interesting thought. Many people seem irritated that the 360 Reach ranks didn’t come over into MCC. I was thinking that what if they all did? You know, Halo 3, 4, and Reach. I just though it would be nice to play MCC and still keep your rank going in the individual game.

I also realize that some people enjoy starting over. Would it be that hard to sync the ranks in the individual games with MCC? It think it would be rather unique since all the games seem to have their own ranking system.

Thoughts?

I would absolutely love that. It was disapointing when I found out you couldn’t earn armor and unlocked it all. That was the thing that kept me playing the older games, to get credits or achievments or whatever to get more armor. You could also just start over, but with the old systems. U recently got mcc, and I probably won’t end up playing much besides reach because of unlockingvallbthe armor immediately.

I think people need to move on from this whole original ranks suggestion. For starters, you’d have to bring in 3-4 individual progression systems which MCC probably doesn’t have the memory for and gaining XP would probably not be like it was in the original especially for H3. It would also likely cause confusion with newer players since each game has its own progression system.

Next, people need to realize that MCC is its own game. Sure, you may have reached max rank in the original game, but you haven’t on MCC’s version and tbh it doesn’t make any sense for a new account on MCC to already be an Inheritor rank for the reason I already stated. You made Inheritor on 360 Reach, but not on MCC Reach. Next thing you know, people are gonna want their stats from MCC to transfer to the 360. “But I’m an Inheritor on MCC!”… Just, no. Lastly, 343 mentioned in a dev blog that they couldn’t use Reach’s progression system since it was designed and optimized for the 360 hardware and ecosystem, so I’m sure that also applies for the other games as well.

It’s not that hard to tell that they are different games. But I don’t think they should cross over

I’m saying that they’ll have to learn each game’s progression system which can be a lot to take in and it’s an unnecessary complication when having a uniform system across all the games makes more sense.

Those are some excellent points as well. I never thought of the issue going backwards to the 360.

I like the idea of starting from scratch again. It makes the game feel new and refreshing again, and adds the replayability element back into the game since we’re working toward something.

Especially for the players that reached max rank in all the Halo’s, they most likely enjoy unlocking stuff again.

It would be cool if there was a legacy stats page like we had in 360 Reach.

Oddly enough, one of the final pitches for the new ranking system was a perfect fusion of the bronze-diamond tiers and the original Reach ranks. In fact, many of the symbols were identical to the old ranks, just in different colors. However, there were no ranks above general. I personally think these look way better than what we got (although H3’s have the coolest-looking ranks in any Halo), but the final MCC ranks still currently seem better than the inheritor and SR152 grinds. Way back when PC/MCC Reach was announced, many people and I suggested that people who were symbol ranks in the original game get legacy nameplates to recognize the time they spent playing. Inheritors would get all seven nameplates, reclaimers six out of seven, and so on. I still think that this is a good idea and would fit the theme of legacy recognition in other Halos, as mentioned previously.
