Ranks do not work

I won 7/10 swat games with a 4.5 kda and got put in Platinum. This makes no sense. Whenever I played against a team of people ranked Platinum I would drop 20+ kills and die less than 10 times. This ranking system can’t accurately rank people. I don’t know why 343 ditched 1-50. It may have had problems but this system has way more.

Lol check your games though bud you had a DNF where you must have rage quit. Most people you played were also unranked or gold/platinum you weren’t facing anyone higher and winning so how can you place higher than them? You have been placed well judging from your games if you are better than that you will get out and go to diamond. I guess you’re just complaining because last season you got placed higher due to the broken placement setting in swat etc.

I don’t get the ranks at all. Here’s the most bizarre encounter I’ve had.

Before the season rank reset, I played my 10 qualifying FFA games. Out of 10 I think I only won 2 and at best 3. Placing around the middle in all the others. I got Onyx for this. Not only did it feel undeserved I also worried I’d be matched against players that really were Onyx skill level.

This leads me to my next problem,

From this image only two of us are ranked Onyx, a couple ranked below and then the rest hadn’t even ranked yet. Why on earth aren’t we playing people we are leveled against. I remember back in the day on Halo 2, you had a single rank number. Every game you had, without fail, you could see that you were ranked against people with pretty much the same, give or take a level or 2. MCC did something like this that failed miserably and I just can’t get my head around this either.

Is it me? Or is it broken?

Except I was dropping 20+ kills a match. It’s not my fault that I had teammates go 4 and 16

Well, can’t say anything about the placement matches other than I think that you should not be able to get a higher rank than gold, all the other has to be gained, that and a stricter rank range matching.

However, you expect the ranking system to be able to properly rank you after 10 matches only? You’ve played against 40 players out of thousands, you need far more matches to get an accurate representation of your proper rank.

The qualifying matches are meant for you to get thrown into the general direction of your capabilities, not immediatley nail you to the exact rank you have. In order for you to have more even games rather than wade through each and every division creating unbalancwd matches as you go.

It’s not you, it is broken. The division you are ranked in has absolutely nothing to do with who you play against. It should do, but 343 haven’t fixed it yet.

Yeah but you wasn’t not every match I checked your games. Also if your deaths are close to your kills you not remarkably better than the other team are you. If you went 20 plus kills and game and only like 4-5 death I could understand. If you go 20 kills and 19 deaths etc though you are fairly matched. Your stats from you placement games don’t lie sorry you were fairly evenly matched most of the time I checked.

Halo 5 uses and ELO system just like Halo 2 - the only real differences are that you get a names rank instead of a number and don’t have to deal with de-rankers. I talked about this a week or so ago in a thread about KDA, but the links in my post here cover the ranking system.

@OP - have a read over the thread I linked above

Something is wrong with this ranking system, here’s my experience so far: I played all my 10 placement matches on the holiday doubles playlist with the same friend. We won 7 games. My friend had a 1.8 KDA and got champion 86 i had a 7.5 KDA and got platinum 1. Clearly needs fixing.

I still don’t understand though… If I’m ranked as Onyx for example in FFA, can you clearly explain to me why I am not constantly seeing a scoreboard of other people who are also Onyx. I would assume that people should be playing people that are their tier brackets. Not above or below them.
