Thanks for viewing this thread and I will be glad to tell you why halo must have
a ranked system to have a great success. Here are the reasons why.
VERY important for matching players:
The 1-50 is a great system that allows others to achieve something that they can
also lose. This system (1-50) allowed a accurate way of matching players based on their
skill. Noobs would face noobs and good players would face other good players. The
replay value also with having ranks is higher since it give the player a challenge
to themselves and to their friends.
Would eliminate Skilled players facing noobs: (inheritors vs recruits)
In reach since their is no skill based system. Not so good players are left facing other
good players. A new player can face a full team of the highest ranks in reach even if your the
lowest rank. Noobs do not want to get spawn killed non stop and this is why I dont understand
why people are so against this system.
Would give the incentive to win:
I’m basing this off of reach compared to halo 2 and 3. There is ZERO incentive to win in reach.
Reach is strictly about the amount kills and how long your match lasts. Halo with a rank
system gave the player a reason to go for the flag and try to cap it as fast as possible. Reach
this was completely taken out. BTB in reach is a great example with spawn killing being the
main reason to even play BTB. The more kills you receive means more credits and more credits means
the faster you rank up.
Would stop “team killing for weapons/vehicles”:
In reach this was terrible. If a player was mad in any way that you took their precious vehicle or weapon they would kill you just to get it. This is a huge problem with the game since your team
can actually just make you lose the match. This never happened in halo 2 or 3 since every one wanted to win and rank up. No one would kill/betray just to have a weapon and have a chance to get booted
when their rank was on the line.
Brings back bragging rights:
This is something halo has always had and should be shown if your a great player. “Look im a 29 and your a 15… i know im the better player” There is nothing wrong with this since you already have
this on halo reach with your k/d ratio. Bragging isnt bad in any competitive game or sport. If you get a high rank then you should be able to brag about it.
Would satisfy a huge part of the community:
The competitive community in halo has always been there and will always be there but players
want to show their hard earned time to improve and show it. With ranks like reach there is no way
to show how good someone is because its based on how much you play compared to how much you win.
I dont see an issue with pleasing part of the community for something that has always been there.
Skill based ranking system:
Im not saying they should bring back the 1-50 but they should bring a system that matches players based on their skill and that shows their skill. The 1-50 did have flaws but im sure their is a way
to fix these to please fans.
Less skilled do NOT want ranks:
Most noobs (less skill players) do not want a level that shows everyone that they arnt as
good as another player. In fact, many despise of ranks. But honestly its smart system if you want
to be matched up with players based on your skill. Do you think noobs honestly want to be spawn killed in any gametype every time because their isn’t a way to match them with players around their
skill?
Should match by party size:
This isn’t in any of the halo games but I really wish that they had this in reach. Many and I hate playing matches with another friend and facing a full team with mics and having team mates that dont even have a mic (randoms). Halo takes a lot of team work and most the time a full team will win almost every time against another team that isn’t a full party.
Arena is flawed in many ways:
The arena system is very flawed as most of it is based on how good an individual player does. This
causes teams to just hide/camp to try to achieve the best k/d for their first couple games. Also to rank up if your in the top percentages then you have to face other players that have a better rating and beat them to actually get a better rating yourself. The ranks reset causing a player
to get what he just earned all over again. When you get a high rank, no one wants to get their rank all over again every season. People want to get their ranks and keep them.
Wouldn’t effect casuals in any way:
Casuals get their progression system like reach so it wouldn’t hurt them in any way. If they do not like ranked then they dont have to play it. Also its fair to cater towards both the casual and competitive communities. I don’t see why a ranked system would be so bad. Casuals wouldnt be happy if there was a ranking system and not a progression system.
Competitive veterans want a ranked based system:
People who have played halo 1,2 and 3 want some sort of ranked system to return. A lot of fans don’t understand this huge aspect of halo because they weren’t even around to play halo 2 online. Veterans that played halo 2 and 3 loved ranks and the social aspect in 3. Honestly if it worked then why remove it when they (343i) can just improve the system.
Many players don’t really understand the reason of why this is so important. This isn’t just to show that someone is a higher ranked or to show that someone has more skill then you. Its to match you as fairly as possibly based on your teams ranks. This would also please a huge part of the community. I dont understand why people are like “hahah no 1-50” or “YES!!! no ranks”. Honestly ranks are important to many people. Why hate a ranking system just because you dont want play ranked?
I think ranks should be in halo 4 but as long as they aren’t flawed and if they match players with
a very accurate system.
Ranked and social should return. Please give an honest opinion as you are entitled to anything
you want to say.
