So, I was onyx 2000 last season in FFA with a 21% win rate. I just finished my placements playing with champs and onyxes, went 0/10 on wins, and had a -1.2 kda. I had one last place finish, maybe one 2nd place, a few thirds, fourths, and fifths. I do NOT feel I deserved this ranking. Has anyone else experienced this?

I think you have it backwards. I read it to say they felt as if they were placed too high. Of course I may be misunderstanding also.

I want a ranking system that makes me feel like I EARNED my ranking. I feel like it was handed to me almost.

Yea now I am confused too. I thought that he wanted to be placed back where he was at. XD
And also a 21% win rate is common for Free for All. You literally have to get 1st place in order for it to count as a win. Although you get CSR for 3rd or better or 5th or better (depending on who you face), it doesn’t count as a win.

Yes I understand all of this, I’m no stranger to FFA. I had a 0% win rate in my placements this season. I don’t think my gameplay warranted an onyx 1602 ranking.

Well, I appreciate the compliment. It just felt good the previous 2 seasons earning my way into onyx. Now it feels like something in the ranking system has changed to make it easier. I guess I’m the only person who would complain about this, I just prefer earning something to having something feel handed to me.
Posted this elsewhere, but it applies here. Basically, the game needs consistent and stable matching criteria for match quality, doesn’t make sense to recalculate your matching ranking every season and ignore a crapton of data.

That doesn’t sound too off the mark to me… Just grind your way back, that’s half the fun.
Yeah there’s a guy in my spartan company that was onyx in ffa. After ranks reset, he did an experiment. He played his 10 placement matches, but did not get a single kill. Last place every game. He was then placed in onyx.
Basically you can get ranked locked if you consistently stay in the same ranking tier for too long.

The take previous rankings to prevent people like Munoz, Danoxide, Vetoed, Kampy, etc. from matching against Bronze and Silvers.
I mean think about it, if you match against Bronze and Silvers and absolutely destroy them for 10 placement matches each season, and then the semi-pros i stated above do the exact same thing, does that put you on their level? The skill gap between the semi-pros and yourself doesn’t matter a bit when you are playing crappy people. Its the difference between beating kids 25-5 and 25-3.
If you beat really crappy players ten matches in a row and the game places you at Champion, you would state you have no business being there. Because the Champions you start facing just start straight taking dumps on you (and I am saying you as a pronoun in general not you in particular).
I am in the same exact boat as you, but I haven’t finished my placement matches. If I were to place close to last in every placement match (as long as I was playing high Onyx/Champions) I would be upset if I got placed at Diamond because I know that I am better than Diamond. I take dumps on Diamonds. So then I would have to just play for a day or two to get back to my Onyx level FFA.
I am just spouting words but I am okay with keeping previous ranks in mind. I don’t want to play placement matches against Bronze, Silver, Gold. It’s not making me any better.

It’s somewhat dependent on how you play for sure, I wouldn’t have lost 400 csr from that gameplay if ranks hadn’t reset. IMO the system is too dependent on a previous season’s ranking. Right now you could just grind high onyx one season and from then on just screw around the next seasons and still get onyx. I just feel like it should be more difficult.

Yeah I agree with keeping them in mind for who you play. Idk, maybe I’m just overthinking it. I’m definitely not satisfied with my performance though.

It’s very hard to derank and it takes days to come down in rank try failing in Griff ball with a - 20 kdr it denotes you a lot and will influence arena putting you in a lower league.
I was Onyx last season as well, I won 2/10 games against Champions and other Onyx’s, and I got Diamond 5…
I grinded to 1703 in the past 2 days. The sweat was real!!!
