What I think should happen for ranking is instead of like it is. You should be ranked on the placement you get against the “difficulty” of the players so you don’t get put in a random rank based on the people you fight with
I like this but the problem is the that rank system is totaly random.
true so what you could do to “restart” it is in say the first 100 games played that day it judges your K/D ratio on how good you are for specifically that game type.

I recently got back into this game and was wondering how the ranking worked. I had a very good streak of winning matches, getting 6 or 7 wins out of the 10 and ending up with a rank of bronze 6. Now I know my kd was not the best, but I opted to get quite a few wins by bringing the flag back and scoring wins that way. I forget the playlist name, but you can win by killing the other team or get the flag and bring it back.
From my observations, it seems that if you end the previous season in a certain tier, you’re more likely to be placed in the same tier when you finish your placement matches for the next season. Of course, if you do relatively poorly, you’re less likely to end up in the same tier you were in in the previous season. For instance, I finished as a Diamond 4 in Slayer last season, but got ranked a Platinum 6 when I finished my placement matches for this season because I was consistently getting wrecked (I think I won 3 out of the 10 matches). So while losing does count against you, it might not count as much as you individually not doing well (i.e. consistently going negative in a losing effort).

So is the match making system. Probably why they don’t show you ranks before the match starts.
Its always amusing when you think “hey these guys have a pretty solid shot for plat/gold players”… the match finishes and you see you were up against two onyx players and diamond 6.
It’s better than Halo 3 playing Lone Wolves as a 46-48 then seeing a full lobby of 50s. You are better off not knowing IMO
