I was platinum 4 when the season was over. I made the Md10 today, I won 4 matches and lost 6. My ranking was gold 5. My kda was 2.2 and still got a very bad rating. Can anyone explain how it works?
I doubt anyone can explain it exactly but i believe W/L counts a lot more than K/D, as it should.
tl;dr your rank depends on who you played, who beat you, and who you beat. You will also always place behind where you ended last season because they system wants to see that you deserve your prior rank by earning it again.
Read through the MM feedback archive threads pinned above and then post specific questions in the weekly MM Feedback thread. ZaedynFel is pretty good at answering questions.
W/L should definitely not count so much more than K/D. If I go 20 kills and 9 deaths and I have 2 teammates that go -8 each, please tell me what I’m supposed to do about that. I’m not saying I should shoot up to the next rank in a loss, but I definitely shouldn’t go down a rank either.

I believe W/L is the only thing that counts until you hit Onyx. I have heard that Onyx players can still go up if they do well even if their team loses, but this is not the case for anyone in the lower ranks.

The ranking sysem is trash, it makes no sense
I was diamond 3 in FFA last season, this season plat 4, FFA is such a harder grind now, first an second place you only get an eighth of an inch of exp an on top of that I’m losing connection to servers an losing rank. The struggle is real bro
