Having a number ranking system is just so boring, ranking up in halo 5 means nothing except you have a bigger number then someone else, it doesn’t entitle you to any better armour or emblems, the game doesn’t make a big deal out of your rank like it did in reach, you just go from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4. What happened to ranking up from a recruit to warrant officer and then all the way to noble. Your rank is a small feature but previous halo’s did it so much better.
Yea, I liked that ranking system better than this one.
To me, a high rank means many things
- They play a lot (more map knowledge ect)
- They have more skill
- They have access to better reqs

i am so confused, because wheither it is a number, or a title. they still are based solely on play time.
i guess i agree on the armor thing, but at the same time, you aren’t gureenteed any armor in 5. and you can bet your butt you aren’t getting that H2BR untill the low 100’s etc etc
I have no desire to “rank up” Some people on here are obsessed with getting their rank up. I enjoy getting ranked lower than what I’m capable of and then having a game streak of 4 or 5 wins in a row. I’m capable of platinum 1-2 level play but for the last two months I have gotten terrible teammates in placement matches which caused me to lose which then put me at rank Gold 1. I’m cool with that. I enjoy going 19/6 vs gold 1s and silvers. I enjoy being on a 3 man team and defeating the 4 man team, happened twice over the weekend. Ranking up is overrated unless you are trying to go pro.

I’m with this guy, I purposely rank up slower than most do for the fact that despite my rank, it really doesn’t indicate my level of skill. I’ve played the game tons, almost two weeks worth, but it’s more enjoyable when I can play with people who have similar K/D averages instead of rank.
The number ranks are just an indicator of how much you play and mean nothing
Its the Competitive Skill Ranks which are “important” however depending on who you ask they mean nothing, I worked hard to get into onyx and I never want to get there again, its not fun, its all too serious and sometimes you just want to play and not worry about being the best. I stopped caring about rank once I proved to myself I could get Onyx. Now I want to be bronze
Ranks are what you make of them.

In halo 5 a high ranks doesn’t necciserly mean that. I am 44 and i spend all my time in forge
you get XP from playing around in forge?? that’s new to me!!!
Xp doesn’t count as rank imo… all it is is a reflection of how much you play. Your CSR is your actual RANK IMO.
I really don’t bother with ranks anymore since they get reset all the time anyway. I usually only place to get the emblem.
With my XP rank, I’m gonna rank up today and that’s it for me caring about it. If I don’t rank up anymore, then I’m perfectly fine with that. If I eventually do, then that’s just a bonus.

You also got a cool helmet when getting to Inheritor. In H5, you get a crappy emblem.
I miss that system.
