Ranking - that old chestnut!

Currently on Platinum 6

I must have won 10 games on the bounce, among a mix of diamond and upper level-platinum players

Edging up at a snails pace, toward diamond

I’m on the losing team once and down I go by almost 50%…

What’s the deal with that?

That’ s just ranked pal, once i got d1 in 10 gamess and lost like 3 ranks in 2 games

Dude. It’s BS. I’m onboard with it being tough to progress - but it’s so easy to fall levels in no time

Because it’s not a progression system. You’re not going to rank up much if you’re playing as expected most of the time or going against lower skilled opponents. If you play bad against people when the system expected you to do well, then you’re going to lose a lot of CSR.

I hear that and I have no issue with it scaling me according to performance, when up against different levels of opponent.

However, with scoring well in almost all matches and holding down many a decent winning streak, while up against both diamond and platinum opponents, respectively - it does seem to drop you disproportionately quickly down a level, versus progressing you up the ladder, at times.

Ok, maybe I’m just rubbish, but with a 7 game win streak, with each game being equally populated by diamond and platinum players and sitting top or at worst mid-in my team - does feel like the dice are loaded when that doesn’t put me up a single level from P6 to D1, but a single loss drops me to mid P6, instantly

Maybe it’s just me…

It’s just ranked… no real answer and we just have to live with it unless 343i changes it.

There is a detailed answer…it’s in the matchmaking FAQ that’s linked above.

You aren’t the problem my friend!, the problem is the ranking system association with players! Why? I don’t have the correct answer at this question

The problem isn’t the players nor the ranking system. The problem is the perception of how the rank system works (343 didn’t do us any favors here since it’s almost opaque). There’s a ranking FAQ which explains a lot of what’s happening behind the scenes, and the other side of the coin is the small population which makes creating good matches tough.

I just glanced at a few of your games from last season — you look like you’re ranked about right. To go up you’re going to have to consistently beat tougher opponents or absolutely crush weaker ones.
