Ranking system

Does anyone else think that they should bring back the old ranking system. It mean’s nothing to be a high rank anymore all you have to do is play a lot to be a high rank. Sometimes I do a lot better than my friends and they get more credits or around the same amount as me. If 343 wants a classic feel they should bring back the classic ranking system. What do you think?

No. I love this ranking system because in Halo 3 I couldn’t get to General because I reached a point where no matter how many games I won I wouldn’t rank up. But other people would start over on new accounts and get those accounts up to 50 in a week.

They should keep it the same it is and integrate a new playlist/playlists with a 1-50 ranking system to satisfy all of those people out there that want the old one back.

They should bring back Halo 3 ranking system. You could brag about how good you were instead of how much free time you have.

If anyone knows, what was Halo 2’s ranking system like? Was it like Reach’s or different. I never got to play Halo 2 on Xbox Live so I wouldn’t know.

They should have a Classic Arena playlist.

I agree but how would that work like some people get to highest rank by exp and others get by getting 50? Also I mean 1-50 but fixed a little bit like the problem you just mentioned.

From what i’ve been told, Halo 2 had a simple formula for it’s ranking system though it was near impossible to reach a 50 without hacking or being godly at the game.

You were considered good if you made it past 25 considering how long it took to rank up.

Didn’t get a chance to play Halo 2 because i didn’t have an internet service, which of course sucks ;/

It was like 3’s but it was a little bit harder to level up. Also I hate when people just fool around in reach and do donuts in a warthog because they know it doesn’t matter they are still getting there 500 credits, you know?

If they were to bring back the 1-50 ranking system just for Halo: CE Playlist gametypes, then sure.
Only apply it to CE:A’s Team Slayer, Swat/Sniper perhaps…

Halo 2’s ranking system was my favorite by far! I was a 50 in halo 3 and it was too easy to get there. In halo 2 i was anywhere from a 35-40 on team slayer, 28 on head to head. If you were 30+ on halo 2 you were amazing. If you were 40+ you were a god. If you were 45+ which you would NEVER see then you were the best in the world… they had a leaderboard and it would show the highest ranking people in the game. 45 to 48 was like a moon with different shades and 50 was a halo ring… those were the good old days. Now all you have to do is sit on your -Yoink- all day and play till you have blood clots and you’ll get the rank you want.

Exactly! I seriously hope a 343 member see’s this and thinks about this and puts back the older ranking systems they were awesome!

Halo 2’s would be by bar the best system for Halo 4. I hope they have it. It would really be amazing.

i completely agree.

I disagree. As with many other things in Reach, I support the concept of Reach’s ranking system- just not its execution. I think a solid ranking system should be more based on the individual rather than the team. We shouldn’t, however, be competing against our teamates for a good rating. I also really like the idea of putting players into ranks compared to other gamers, rather than a default setting.

Also, a ranking system that takes time to rank up defeats the purpose of a ranking system. A proper system should set you to your appropriate rank in as few games as accurately possible.

arena is a good idea, but I think there should be arena snipes, arena swat, arena slayer, arena doubles, arena mlg, and arena free for all; and arena should not affect rank.

either that or bpr

Yes!!! 1-50 is the main thing I would want!

I like Reaches rank up system more than Halo 3’s. That old system punished you for losing and I thought it was dumb to be getting demoted every time. Plus, more armor when we rank up higher, I mean come on? Either way rank doesnt determine skill.

In the original ranking system of Halo 2 it actually was impossible to get a legit 50. Most people got to 17 and couldn’t get past it. If you did get past it you would never find a game. Bungie had to change the way the system worked because no one could legitimately rank up that high. I had a friend who started playing Halo 2 when it first came out on the original ranking system, he hacked, standby’d and boosted his way to a 50 just so he could have one. It took him 540 wins with 0 loses. So basically please don’t implement the original Halo 2 ranking system.

Well they could just put more armor in and I mean they could fix it and tell you how many more games to win until rank up and how many more games you have to lose until demotion or something

100% agree, matchmaking is essentially a custom game finder where people just meess around, dont carry out the objective and there is no desire to win. This is fine for some people however players that want to play the game to win (which is the objective) have nowhere to play.
