Ranking system

So If 343 wants to use the ladder ranking system im fine with that, but It does not at all feel like a ladder ranking system.

*If you win 10/10 you should NOT be place in onyx or diamond

*If you win 10/10 games you should be place (depending how you did in game with KDA) in either Gold l ll lll lV V. or if really Just demolished all 10 games Plat l. Thats it know one should ever be place in anything higher than diamond l

*If you win 9/10 or 8/10 Maybe be place in high silver or low gold

*If you win 6/10 or 7/10 place in Silver l ll lll lV V(depending how you did in KDA will put you in a higher or lower silver rank)

*If you win 4/10 or 5/10 Place in silver l ll( or maybe bronze lV V (depending on if you got carried)

*If you win 2/10 or 3/10 Definitely be place in bronze

*if you win 1/10 you should be place in low bronze

A lot of you will disagree but this is how a regular ladder ranking system works

you don’t automatically get place in top ranking

what is a ladder for its to be climbed. Countless of times i have played against/with a onyx player and they are just (not to be rude) but trash, im not saying im god at halo 5 but s*** if you are onyx you should have a lot of skill i shouldn’t be able to out magnum you every time

Don’t get mad at my opinion because you don’t belong in onyx or diamond

Nailed it! The reason the ranking system is all f’d up is because of people placing in Onyx and Champion early and throwing off the rank curves.

Why not have a personal rank and a team rank?

I do personally do not believe they should show us our ranking until at least 20,000 or so place. Once 20,000 complete placements matches, automatically place people in tiers based on their percentile.

Maybe that number should be higher, but either way, it is a start.

The ranking system is the best it’s ever been.I’m totally ranking right where I belong. 9 games out of 10 I’m playing matches with similar skilled opponents. I have zero complaints and feel that its just right where it is.

Well im struggling to get out of Gold placement and im not that bad at the game i was in the good old halo 3 days.

I won 2/10 and was placed in Gold 3. Gold is the biggest trap of any of them, if you do not have a team you cant make it to Plat …you have to be extremely lucky.

This ain’t Halo 3 anymore.

why do i finish at the top of my Team while i am Platin 1 and my Team mates all Diamond and Onyx?
I do not understand, please explain why me (a Platin 1 Player) finishes way better than an Onyx Player.

And even though i’m playing pretty solid i can’t rank up because i Need to win games with my great Team mates.
Why is that???

Oh my gosh wait, is it the stupid ranking System we have? yep nailed it.

Agreed, just today I owned at least 3 games then I got a good couple of guys who took over for 2 so I was on a 5 game win streak, then straight trash for the next 4. 2 of em didn’t matter how hard I carried team was that bad. 10 and final match did awesome again. Rank given gold 1. Like dang I know I’m good but this feels like lol at least I’m not getting screwed into bronze but still. How is it that us ranked players are being placed in matches with unranked players that doesn’t even make sense. That’s what is screwing up this game even more is people who are super bad are getting carried into higher ranks. I’d say KDA should be taken into account but the reason they probably stayed away from that was so people didn’t start camping the crap out of the game. Which I’m beginning to notice is starting to take sway back in the game. I could go on about it but, bottom line is ranking system needs to be overhauled. Placement matches shouldn’t have ranked players playing placement matches with unranked.

Ya it’s like what the heck we get ranked and we are already so high in the ranking system that we can barely improve. Personally I don’t care too much about skill ranking. I just want to be ranked so I can get my seasonal emblem.

I just feel the game doesn’t match everyone around the same skill level. You get games where some people on each team play like its a 1v1 game. Or games where your like how did they even get that rank.

It gets harder with no team work in Platinum.

Although the rank distribution may be off that isn’t the problem. The problem is the ranks don’t mean much currently and it is impossible to drop down in division.

I’m been mauled by people that were in platinum and mauled people that were in Onyx. There is no consistency in skill amongst the divisions from what I have experienced. Back in Halo 2 and Halo 3 you had an idea of how good or how bad someone might be based on the numeric rank they had in the playlist. In Halo 5 it just seems random. The ranking in Halo 5 is nowhere near as bad as Halo 4 or Reach, but needs some improvements quickly.

Why are people that are still in their placements playing people that have been ranked? Why can a gold face an onyx? Why can a diamond face a champion?

Where the -blank- is the objective playlist? I didn’t buy Halo to play only slayer.

I find big team battle and warzone cluster -blanks- so I’m forced into Team Arena for the chance of CTF or strong holds. I’m still amazed by how few game modes are present in the game. One would think oddball would be present because it is a classic game mode and 343 seemed to love ricochet.

This new ranking system seems to be more of a gift rather then an achievement. Ranks should be like halo 2 and 3, where you start at the bottom and work your way to the top. 1 through 50 was a good spread that divided the skill gap. These blockades that prevent you from going down in a division shouldn’t exist. If you constantly lose and regardless of what ever division your in, you should go down in division kas guess what your no longer playing as good as that ranks says you should be playing. Someone should create a form with a poll asking if they should bring back the halo 2/3 ranking system, maybe only then will they change the ranking system to being something thats earned not given through a shortcut.

Although this does make since, im still a little mad because I won 9/10 games (Breakout) and I have a 2.0+ KD, and got placed into Gold III, but in slayer i won 6/10 and have a 1.5 then got placed in Gold VI, this doesn’t seem to make since to me at all. (Not to mention me being on top of the leaderboards every game).

This is it.

and like know one is placed into bronze unless they intentionally losst

I do think that the system is more complicated than it needs to be, but the concept is still smart. A more simple approach like what OP has described makes sense, but not accounting for individual performance complicates things as well. For example, I won a SWAT game earlier with 26 kills on my team, while another player went somewhere around 6 and 11, and another going negative as well. Even though I’m already ranked in SWAT, these players were not, and still receive credit for the win regardless of performance. If they continue finding themselves on teams like that, then their rank will be far to high in relation to their actual skill level. The same is true for qualifying matches; you can do amazing yourself and still lose, thus decreasing your actual rank after qualifying. I know you could alleviate this by playing with a team, but that isn’t always an option.

Overall, the system makes sense, but could definitely use some tweaking in a few areas.
