Can we please change this ranking system, Im tired of ranking down because either Teammates quit or just go 2 kills and 16 Deaths. Its not fair for the people that are actually doing great in a game to rank down because of teammates. All im saying is 343 can you change it so that you rank up or down depending on how YOU personally did during the game, not rely on winning to rank up. Anyone agree?

They actually did change it, to some degree at least, so that it takes into account your KDA. It’s not just solely based on wins/loses anymore, but it is unfortunate how if you are almost required to play with a fireteam in arena in order to do well. Otherwise, if you just go solo into a match the likeliness of doing well or ranking up is much lower.

Couldn’t of said it any better, I didn’t even know they made a little change. Hopefully it escalates into a bigger change or else we’ll just have to keep inviting people from the other team that did good to ur arean team lol and I don’t wanna have to do that every time.

It’s not a huge change but at least it’s something. I hope you’re right though, and that they take it more into account so we don’t have to rely specifically on how the team performs overall.

There should be a ranked team playlist for lonewolves. Not only would this resolve the issue of unbalanced teams, but it would also most likely create more teams as players who usually play on their own would then naturally find players they may want to team up with in team playlists. It would appear that 343i are incapable of this basic common sense type thinking to provide a better gaming environment for the ppl that support their product.
…and yes, I’m a lonewolf and I don’t play Arena because I don’t have a group of players online to join a fireteam to play with.

Ranking in halo has always been determined solely by win/loss. It shouldn’t change now. They all ready added a number rank aside form the skill rank to appeal to the COD chumps. It’s not that hard to put together a team. Invite poeple in the games you play who also do well. If you are decent they will come pretty often. And it’s not that hard to rank up by yourself even with only one other guy on your team if you are both consistenly doing well.

I think the part that’s frustrating is if you’re an avid multiplayer gamer and your team seems to be suffering as you try to rank up (after already being put in a pretty decent division). I can honestly see both sides of the argument, but I do agree that the KDA addition makes more sense (to me at least).

I don’t think you have to be matched in a fireteam to win and rank up. While it helps, it is not a necessity. I think it just takes a slightly different mentality and approach. I’ve found that I do much better (win % not K/D) when I focus on trying to keep my teammates alive. One simple thing is to try and get a shot on an enemy player that is going around a corner towards your teammate. That one shot, while giving you nothing (not enough damage to give you an assist) may be the difference that allows your teammate to win the one on one battle against that enemy. That could easily be a 2 point swing.
Another thing is to talk. Callout the enemies even if your teammates aren’t talking. Most of the time they are listening. Please don’t get frustrated when others aren’t talking. There are times where I can’t talk or need to keep my mic muted. Such things happen to parents of young children. However, I am always listening.
Based on your stats, you both appear to be good team players. I commend you for that. Perhaps we can help each other overcome some of the stupidity of some of our teammates and win more of our games. Nothing worse than a teammate that dies in a 3 on 1 encounter, spawns, and then sprints to his X. He is just going to die again.
Maybe we can use this thread to come up with ways that lone wolves can be more successful in team slayer.

I always found it a little awkward to talk to to the rest of my Fireteam if I’m the only one with a mic but I totally understand. When I’m teamed up with my friends we constantly talk, make callouts, and whatnot. Besides, KDA isn’t the most important thing, to me at least (though obviously for ranking it’s important). I’ve always been a team player which is why Breakout and Doubles are by far my favorite playlists.
And yeah, that’s a really solid idea.

It is awkward, which is why I usually don’t do it. However, it helps. The other night I was paired up with two guys making the callouts. Because my son was sleeping next to my while I played I couldn’t participate in the conversation. Other than the insults they directed my way for not using my mic their chatter was useful. I was able to get few extra kills and keep them alive a couple of times.
I do like doubles. I just wish they would rework the maps a little for the doubles playlist. The maps are a bit too big and the power weapons have way too many shots in them.

You do have a point, I suppose if I’m ever soloing in Arena again then I’ll just have to be the lone vocal wolf.
And I completely agree about the doubles playlists, though some of them (like Empire) are a fine enough size.
