Hello every body I am just trying to understand the changes made to the ranking system. Me and a long time halo friend were playing team slayer together. We played all 10 placement matches together and we won 9 out of 10 games together. But here is where it gets confusing I ranked at a diamond 5 and he ranked at a platinum 5. So from what I understand is that it’s TEAM slayer and the TEAM must communicate and work together to achieve a victory. we had both won the same amount of games so why is he one tier below me? Sure I am the main team slayer and usually holding down power weapons but overall we win the game from TEAMWORK. I would not have won 9/10 games with out his teamwork nor would he without mine. So unless 343i was monitoring our individual gameplay and communication and decided that the quality of his game play was not equivalent to mine and our TEAM strategys were not compatible (we have 50s together in the real halos) then I fail to understand how we are not the same rank? What I am getting at is 343i is not supporting the TEAM based game halo is suppose to be if I knew that I would have spent my 10 placement games sitting around a corner with a shotgun or scatter shot just focusing on my K/D ratio and not give a -Yoink- about my team mates or the victory because apparently winning dosent matter in TEAM slayer.
There has to be something that’s still wrong with the placement system. I just got out of my placements and I’m pretty damn sure that I should not be in the rank that I was put in.
Out of the 10 games I played I lost 7, and those losses were crazy hard stomps, I suck at this Halo and went crazy negative compared to how I usually play, and in the 3 games that my team won I was still negative 2 out of 3. Two of those games three winning games were extremely close at like 50/45+ in our favor and the other one was just an average game.
I’m going to try to stop rambling and make my point. I lost most of my placement games and the ones I won were nothing special. Adding on to that I did absolutely HORRIBLE in like 9 out of 10 of those games and the rank it gave me was Platinum 3. Only 2 ranks below your friend who is for some reason 6 ranks below you when you guys played in the same placement games that you won 9 out of 10.
I should definitely not be ranked Platinum anything. From how bad I perform in this game I’d say I’m like mid Silver. Maybe low Gold at best. I’ll admit it’s not as bad as before this last update where my placements in every playlist put me in Diamond for some god forsaken reason against people WAY above my level. I can’t enjoy arena for as long as this is a problem, so I’m stuck playing almost exclusively Warzone(which isn’t suuch a bad thing. 343i did pretty darn good with Warzone) or playing Halo Reach custom games with my friends.
Hopefully they can fix this problem soon.

For placement matches it factors in personal performance as well as the performance of who you played against. This includes k/d and things of that nature as far as i know.

I really wish it didn’t involve K/D I know it is obviously matters but When you involve map control, flanking, power weapon control, timing, communication, team shooting and team strategy in general your rank should all come down to the over all goal which should be the victory not the K/D. If I just focused on my K/D it would be a lot better but my win loss ratio would go down drastically which isn’t fair to other players especially in something called TEAM slayer.
I might have to try it. I dont play arena unless its FFA.
Ya it is kind of weird. In holiday team doubles my friend and I intentionally lost every game to try to get bronze (I’ve never seen a bronze player) and we lost 10/10. I got ranked gold 1 and he got ranked silver 5. We did get a few kills but in general we tried hard to suck and rank low lol there were a couple times we had to stand in front of people to get them to kill us.
I think it factors in K/D heavily now, which is total crap. If the goal is to win then who cares if I died 50 times in FFA if I won? This just leads to people camping,hiding, general degenerate play. The goal should be to win and nothing more.
The ranking system is garbage.
I’m in Platinum, and I’ve been matched up with Diamonds and Onyx’s non-stop.
I’m not actively trying to lose to see if I can maybe force the system into placing me in matches with people of similar skill. We’ll see what happens.
It’s just another area of game design that 343i is fundamentally terrible at.
