Anyone else see it being little unfair that maintaing a Positive KDR is the only way to rank up? Im decent at Halo, average about a 0.8 KDR, 343 apparently expects us to ALL be perfect. Halo had never been about stats. It used to be about fun. If i wanted to be judged on my performance, I’d go play COD. This dropping your rank nonsense is just that… Nonsense! I have a life, a family and a fulltime job. I play Halo to play Halo, not to be judged on how well i play. I will never be MLG, why am I suppose to pretend that i am? If they keep this ranking system, i just may not continue playing Halo. I’ve been playing this series since the launch day of Combat Evolved. This is VERY disappointing. Shame on you 343, get your priorities straight, Bungie understood us, maybe it’s time you understand us too.
The ranking is not individual. It’s all about the win.
For the record if you don’t play this game to be an FPS god then why do you care about ranks? It is just going to lead to an eventuality where you are put into your proper bracket. And that is where you will be matched up with players of similar skill. Is that not fair?
The MM is a little unfair atm because it’s not exactly matching people on skill or matching parties with parties.
Just keep winning. Btw going positive is all about how smart you are.
Never chase unless you KNOW the player you are chasing is below your skill level.
Use your booster for smart moves not to jump around the map.
Don’t sprint a lot. Use it rarely. The less you depend on sprint the better. (I use it for running away from losing battles or opening game rush only)
Stick with team mates and clean up their kills. If someone has to die on your team ensure they don’t die in vain.

This isn’t how it works at all… K/d has nothing to do with it. It works like bungie’s system…the Ranking system exists so that people can find matches with people with similar skill. Someone in your shoes should appreciate that
Hopefully they’ll work out the bugs before the final launch… They have a year. Good advice though. Thank you for the help.
Ranks are used to determine your skill, in team slayer(the only game type availible atm) your skill specifically is how good you are individually (K/D/A) and how well you function as a team. If you wish to “rank up”, get better in either of these categories, although having a team with decent teamwork seems to be the key to winning.
You still have Spartan experience or w\e if you wish to simply have something to show for your dedication over time.

No Halo games has EVER, and i mean EVER pared ppl up correctly. Ever since Halo 2 went online the matching has been for the most part horrible. The rank in Halo means nothing. If u don’t go in as a team in team games u will not have a good time, you’ve pizza when u should have french fried.
I dont like the way the competitive skill ranks work. Yes, it should matter if you win/lose, but i lose as much when i go 20-4 and lose as when i go 4-20 and lose. I can be the best player in the game and still lose competitve skill because the other people im playing with are not as good and i lose. This should be adjusted to personal performance.

Positive KDR generally is how you win slayer gametypes…

Huh that’s how it works in TEAM playlists… You rank up if you play well as a TEAM. Naturally, playing with people you have chemistry with will reflect positively.
If you are expecting to be matched up based on individual talent, you play solo playlists.
Come on now. Nothing says that you have to care about your rank. Just play the game. Who cares what a couple of pixels say. Play to win or play just to mess around.
ranking system is designed to KEEP COMMON PLAYERS TOGETHER.

You could derank in Halo 2 and 3.
The rank up to de-rank ratio was much more balanced in previous titles. Seems more geared toward your MLG type players. I just want to play and not feel i have to worry about how well i play. It adds an element to the game that, well, for lack of a better is stressful.
While I have a positive k/d (not even counting assists) like 3.0+ I don’t find this ranking system fun.
I find it hilarious the game thinks the other team should be comprised of 2 Onxy players, a Semi-pro, and a gold player while my team gets 2 gold, 1 silver, and an UNRANKED player. Yes unranked. How is this even fair?
It’s laughable at best honestly. I feel very bad for my teammates. While I can usually maintain a positive k/d after the match most of my teammates get crushed. It’s not fun for anyone.
